The desert is huge yet it only has so much life supporting resources, right? I'm not talking about space it is about clean drinking water and soil to plant crops that is not polluted or dead. Runs off from fertilization and animal waste caused serious algae that poisoned our ocean shores last year. People at the beaches said they could hardly breath.
