And walls arent so easily defeated as you try to claim. It would take time which would enable the border patrol to get to the area and arrest them.

Illegal immigration being down doesnt matter, there are still 11-20 million illegals living in the country with more crossing each month. The majority arent those who overstayed there Visa, it's about half and those are less worrisome. Those illegals have at least been vetted.

Of course a wall can deter certain people in certain situations, that's not really the question. I think the question that needs to be asked is "What is the most cost effective way to address illegal immigration along the entire southern border of the US"? The answer to that is I think much more complex than "A big concrete wall".

Yeah fences and walls are a part of border security, but certainly not the whole answer, probably not even the most important answer, and probably not the most cost effective answer without really examining technology, legal and personnel options in light of the root causes of illegal immigration.
