Amendment XIX to the United States Constitution prohibits the states and the federal government from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States on the basis of sex. It was adopted ninety-eight years ago.

In 2018, the legislative progress will be celebrated as never before.

    Goodo on America!

I'm at a loss to understand the point of this thread.

Have liberal males been holding back women candidates all these years, and the President has caused them to finally push through that opposition?

Trump has definitely inspired women to participate in politics and run for office.

Previously, old White boys, regardless of Party, had hogged participatory democracy.

Ok. So the Democratic Party, contrary to their messaging, have been holding back women.

    Got it.

Not nearly to the extent as the GOP as of late but, yes, the Old White Boys have dominated the nation's politics in proportions far beyond their relative numbers since its founding.

Not nearly to the extent as the GOP? I'm not aware of the GOP holding back women. Can you name the women they refused to allow to run for public office?

So, let us watch and see how they do...

I have a Black female liberal in my district who is running against the White male conservative incumbent.

Just putting a name on the ticket and saying that you are a caring person is not going to get it done.

People understand that the country is much better off than it was just a few years ago.

You appear to be obsessing over your partisan concerns.

Representative democracy functions best with the participation of all who are purportedly being representative.

The unrelenting dominion of only one demographic has not permitted that democratic ideal to previously become reality.

It's great to see a younger crowd. Too bad they are almost invariably on the side of authoritarian social and economic controls.

Participation of our diverse populace in self-governance is the democratic ideal, regardless of the elective result in any particular instance of its expression.

It shall take many years before entrenched elements lose their inherent historic advantage, but that progress is clearly underway in 2018.

The DNC-E and the GOP-E are one in the same. Both are part of the Progressive elitist establishment. Both have lost considerable political power over the past two years.

What remains to be seen is where the voting populace will now throw down their collective support. Along with the neo-Socialists or with the new labor intensive Conservative movement?

I'm betting on the latter simply because the Black and Hispanic populations have no strong economic reasons to be devoutly loyal to the Progressive caucus at this point.

In addition, Trump is still engaged while continuing to use his Clausewitz inspired platform model.

Americans will determine the course the nation will take, and representative government that actually represents the diverse American populace - women as well as men, non-Whites as well as Whites - is the democratic ideal that best serves the nation in that regard.

Well , unless Americans vote a red wave, then you guys will cry and whine and destroy things and obstruct and object and call names.

I don't think identity politics is actually the democratic ideal.

Of course, there are those who would much prefer to see non-white, male Americans participating in our democratic republic in smaller numbers, but I don't see that happening.

Equality being reflected at the polls and in the halls of power actually transcends division by demographic metrics.

    The progress is unstoppable.

I don't care so much about that except they will vote for a candidate simply because of his race rather than being the best man for the job which is 9 times out of 10 a white man.
Or, to put it another way, the decline is inevitable.

"Trump triggers the 19th Amendment?" WTF does that even mean? Nobody was denying women the right to vote. Overall, women are more likely to vote, and it's been that way since the '60s. What you actually mean is "Trump triggers SJWs"

If you are white white man, and actually believe that the best man for the job is 9 out 10 times is a white man, you will vote according to your race and gender.

Some others Americans may follow your example.

But I won't be voting because of the candidates race and gender, but because I consider him to be the best man for the job. In 10% of the cases I won't be voting because of race and gender.

But you have a primary system. The people elect the nominees.

You can keep telling yourself that is is just a coincidence that you happen to be the same race and gender as the candidate you decide is the best nine of ten times, of course.

And most candidates in primaries have been white males. The increase in diversity in primaries will result in greater diversity in elections, and greater diversity in office holders - representative government more representative of America.
