Unless I'm missing something here, the people who are arguing the colors should remain the same because of tradition appear to be the same people who want to do away with the tradition of playing the national anthem at sporting events.

 

Go all the way and paint the entire fuselage of the plane as an American flag. Imo, the no.1 "Old Glory" print above would be nice.

They condemn criticism of public officials and demand unconstitutional laws, yet condemn as "unpatriotic" those who don't wear flag pins.

You identified the prime issue here. Fake news. It is starting to look like all the fake news about Russia helping Trump is unraveling. Turns out the propaganda about Russia hacking the DNC is now fake news since the FBI never investigated the DNC servers and relied on the word from a DNC hired contractor and not their own investigators. So far there is no evidence that ever happened. Even CNN is now talking about Brennan's involvement in pushing this falsehood.
