Trump's main complaint is personal in that he wants Section 230 removed which would allow tech companies basically Twitter and Facebook to be sued. Trump is pissed off because Twitter and Facebook two private companies thwarted him from posting lies a few times.

I do not see why a fight with big tech belongs in a National Defense bill. The inclusion of the Trumpian demand to smash at Twitter and Facebook in the defense bill. This is including non related Schiest in a bill and violates my principles that we need single issue bills. A defense bill needs to be about defense related issue not Facebook.

Trump is also pissed that he would not be allowed to steal funds from the military to build the Wall of Mexico.

Anyone agree that non defense crap such as fighting with Twitter and Facebook does not belong in a defense bill? Yes it is about suing social media companies.

Have you read any bill? Like actually read them?

There's all kinds of random **** in them.

Of course I have read bills but just because there is a lot of Schiest in them that does not make it right. Usually it is a way for Conresspues to get post into bill.

The Trumps fight with Twitter and Facebook is about freedom of speech of the user vs freedom of control by the social media companies. What Trump wants is to make the social media companies responsible for the opinions of the users. Well if we do that then we have to give the companies the right to suppress the content. But then those who have their content suppressed will cry foul and claim that is unconstitutional.

Anyhow I still do not believe that free speech issues belong in the military appropriations bill.

And I thought pork barrel spending was outlawed by congress. Seems they don't mind breaking their own rules when it suits them.

    "Massive GOP Support"?

If that is (truly) the case, then overriding the veto should be a cakewalk.

Aren't they supposed to pass it first and then see what's in it?

Yeah, you'd think. However, Trumper senators and representatives will be forced to go against him to do that. I made a flippant comment yesterday about Congress overriding any threatened veto of the covid relief/omnibus bill, but the reality is that Trump can still cow a lot of spineless members of congress because his base is so rabid. This is the bed Republicans have made by enabling a criminally insane game show host for the last 4 years. Now they have to lie in it.

This is incredibly funny in a perverse kind of way.
It's not like the military in Georgia is not voting right now. :)

“Pork” or “pork barrel spending” is what it’s often called. More formally it’s known as earmarks.
Congress actually banned earmarks back in 2011, but now some Democrats are trying to resurrect them.

From what I could gather, it wasn't "Congress", it was just the House and it's kind of unclear on how it works.

I came here to find out how the cult members would spin Trump vetoing a Defence bill supported by all sides in Congress as being the fault of Democrats. Off to a decent start, but celarly the talking points haven't been fully distributed yet. Looking forward to more.

Not so. In fact, it won't avail them at all, going forward. Trump can pull enough support to start a viable 3rd Party and gut the GOP.

    Fake News. Trump is right.

The Senate: Throw Them (Almost) All Out.

    Except:
    • Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.),
    • Ted Cruz (R-Texas),
    • Ron Johnson (R-Wis.),
    • Mike Lee (R-Utah),
    • Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and
    • Rick Scott (R-Fla.).
And enough of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer

Not according to my link which references congress. If you have a source that says the House banned earmarks please provide it.

Big Tech are the richest international corporations and people on earth in business and conspiracy with the richest people in China.
Big Tech censors and spies on the Chinese and Americans.
Big Tech owns ALL television stations, ALL newspapers and ALL of social media - meaning all news and every way 99% of people have any means to have a public voice or communication with each other.
What is false is claiming Big Tech only blocked a couple messages by the President. They have banned and censored the President, every Republican members of Congress, and any political statement by anyone that states anything that is contrary to the endlessly greater profits and powerful of the already richest and most powerful people on earth.
The richest people on earth and the most massive worldwide monopolies to ever exist are your heroes that you dutifully serve in your messages falsely believing they will then toss you some crumbs.

Yes. They are the corporate equivalent of the Lying Outlaw Slavers of Beijing, who view themselves untouchable, and while evaluating what each individual opponent can do to them, do not take the time to consider what, collectively, everyone who they have trampled on, could do to them.

Anti-Censorship Facebook opponents see their moment under Lame Duck Biden
Joe Biden has said he’s no fan of Facebook. Now he has an opportunity to show it as he assumes landmark policy and legal battles against the company.

    Not fan of Facebook.
Facebook happily repeatedly drove the election year knife into Trump, the GOP and Conservatives, but never stopped to consider Illegitimate Lame Duck Joe's view of them.
    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/12/26/anti-facebook-agitators-biden-era-450347

This might help Facebook, while Conservatives are Free Speech Stalwarts that know the solution to bad speech is more Free Speech, the Censorious National Socialists on the Left want to be able to dictate all expression and crimilize that which they disagree with.

This will result in the promotion of differing remedies which will help Facebook avoid the combined weight of both political parties.
