Where was Canada during the British invasion of 1812?

Oh yeah, they were bending over backwards to give their wives and daughters over to their British masters.

Say Hi to the Queen for me by the way.

Trudeau was like Canada's answer to Obama.

I remember a time before Trudeau, when nobody could tell you who the Prime Minister of Canada is.

Sure. But Canada has the most raw materials in the world outside of Russia and is busy using access to those raw materials to get trade deals. They did one with the EU, signed the TPP, are in talks with Mercosur, and have had preliminary talks with China.

We're pushing away our best trade partner and largest customer.

And I can tell you there are many millions of Americans who wish they didn't know who our current president is.

How can the conflicting and mutually exclusive "we don't need no stinking manufacturing industry in the US" and "we should worry about Canada's raw materials" ideas peacefully coexist in the heads of Trump haters without causing those heads to explode I will never understand LOL

PS Canada is not our largest customer, we are Canada's largest (75%) customer, for the US, Canada as a customer is just meh. Duh

Well to be honest, there are literally 10 of millions of Americans that today couldn't even tell you who their Mayor is let alone who the current President is ;)

Yeah, well--the narrative is our issue. They're serious and will retaliate. If Trump kills auto production in Canada with a 25% tariff on Canadian made vehicles, Canada will retaliate with tariffs on U.S. made cars and trucks. Ford, GM, and Chrysler would be done there.

And if we close our markets to Canada they will be looking for new markets for whopping 75% of their GDP, lest we forget skyrocketing shipping costs coupled with tariffs that those other markets (the EU, Russia, China) tend to slap on importers. How will that work out for Canada... Should we worry or they? Jeez

At least Canada is consistent with its position on being pro-European instead of a true North American Continent. I can appreciate a consistent position, even if it's one against my nation. Nevertheless, I am confident as always of US Victory. USA over everything.

"Canada was the United States' largest goods export market in 2017."

Of course, we're Canada's largest market.

Sure, they should worry, but they won't cave. They didn't in 1930.

They would be looking for a market for about 20% of their GDP if we blocked all imports from their country.

The petty, pissy tantrum over the Canadian Prime Minister is merely one more instance of lowlife Trump's crapping on American values and civilised behaviour in general.

He is transforming the US into a pariah nation - a debasement that pleasures his prissy cult.

That's just crazy. You know sh't about Canada if that's what you think.
Canadians have a more favorable opinion of Americans than any other country in the world. You need to stop listening to President Lard Ass.

Canada was still a colony, so they were still royal to the crown. The War of 1812 was between the US and the UK. There was no need for Canada to get involved until the US invaded them and burned down their capitol (yes, they had a capitol even though they were a colony).

So $266 BILLION dollars in exports is just "meh". You got a real handle on reality there.

I haven't encountered many who despite their profound ignorance of another country claim to know what they are all about.

    NAFTA
    NORAD
    NAPP
    NACC

    etc. etc. etc.

Last but not at all least for Canadians the NHL

Here's the story I got from "Canadian sources"

Seems trump was his usual self, not having a clue what the real numbers were, not having a detailed understanding of the issues and constantly repeating his nonsensical claims about being the worlds piggy bank and america getting ripped off and even threatened to end all trade with whomever didn't "play ball with him". The other leaders eventually got him to agree to the joint communique.

So he leaves early, and at the presser, Trudeau says the following

Trump throws a hissy fit over that and reneges on his committment to the joint communique. I personally believe he was looking for an out after he was advised by "x" that it was a "socialist" document that sure as hell wouldnt play well with his base.

Heres the communique and its pretty clear his initial acceptance would be extremely problematic.

    https://g7.gc.ca/en/official-documents/charlevoix-g7-summit-communique/

What a negotiator. Reneging and blaming everyone else. SOP for trump it seems. remember televised daca meeting and his commitment then?

I saw one of his aides describe it as a "socialist" document earlier today and I was wondering what the **** he was talking about.
