It looks like the NATO alliance is crumbling as we speak. But are the true reasons for this fragmenting alliance what we have been told? FBI whistleblower and critic, Coleen Rowley, says that Trump has now switched allies and now is completely aligned with Israel. Trump meanwhile, tries to argue that the reason for dumping the NATO alliance is because Europe doesn't pay America enough towards its military support. But there's a dilemma here. For 2017, the US contributed a smidge over 22% of the annual NATO budget which was $1.38 billion (military), $252 million (NATO civilian costs) and $704 million for the NATO Security Investment Programme (NSIP). In other words, last year NATO cost a total of $2.3 billion of which the US pays approx $500 MILLION (HERE). In contra-distinction, Israel is massively more of a charity case. NATO is a minnow in comparison to the Israel whale it when it comes to swallowing US money. For fiscal 2018, Israel will receive from the US $3.8 billion - the bulk of it being in the form of military aid (HERE). Assuming these figures are approximately correct (I've not fact checked them with other sources but have just assumed they are roughly accurate), it is evident that Trump's argument about NATO cannot be the true (or is not at least the full) reason for American ditching its historic ally (Europe). https://www.newsmax.com/davidignatius/trump-nato-european-summit/2018/06/21/id/867634/ In many ways this is really quite funny. They say pride goes before a fall and the following video shows hubris in spades:
Great article, totally agree. There is a proverb around where i live which goes something like "tell me who your friends are and I can tell how you are". The US can stick with israel and saudi arabia, the axis of freedom and goodness Perfect time to put a burka on that goyum lady from the liberty statue to reflect this
And who will Germany stick with? There are only two choices, the US or Putin. That will tell us how they are.
