In 1989, five teenage boys were coerced into pleading guilty to an act of horrific brutality, and Trump raged that they should all be killed by the State.

Despite Trump's bloodlust, they were not killed, and were subsequently exonerated. (In 2002, a serial rapist named Matias Reyes confessed to the crime. His DNA matched genetic samples from the jogger’s sock, sealing the case. The statute of limitations had expired by that point, so Reyes could not be charged.)

Should Trump now invite these Americans to the White House and give them Big Macs as an act of reconciliation, and as a sign that he does not begrudge their having lived to achieve justice?

The death penalty should be abolished, for this reason and because of morality.

Advanced nations have ended the State being allowed to kill people in cold blood, but Fake Don needs to confront his demand that innocent teenagers be executed.

Why didn't they sue him for libel and slander?

He attempted obstruction of justice well before he became president. His @$$ should have been in jail.

Indeed, President Trump was wrong then.

But now, most Leftists defend Presumption of Guilt in sexual misconduct cases. President Trump opposes Presumption of Guilt. He has learned from his past sins.

No. They were still criminal thugs who assaulted many people that night in the park.

    That was back then.

Our forensics are much better now and this rarely, if ever, happens anymore.

Good point. Japan still kills those convicted of multiple murders. There were 2 in 2018.

As a matter of integrity, one would expect an apology after waging a campaign to kill teenagers subsequently proven to be innocent.

They may be waiting for an apology.

You can post their criminal records if that is true, of course, but they were teenagers that were innocent of the crime for which your messiah demanded they be killed.

Somehow, I don't think that would please the left.. I suspect the really extreme leftist will eventually probe back to a time when young Donald took a piss in the forest and claim he was polluting our national parks!

No, he hasn't. When confronted about his role in this during the election, his excuse was that those kids had to be up to something. And he has repeatedly accused people of crimes that they haven't been tried for.

Then again if reading was actually fundamental ;)

So, seeking logic here, was his statement BEFORE or AFTER these dummies plead guilty?

Believe it or not, calling for teenagers to be killed was not the norm even back then.

Fortunately, Fake Don's bloodlust was ignored, and five innocent men lived.

If he doesn't have the decency to admit he was wrong, he'll hide from his responsibility to apologize, of course.

Perhaps, as with his phony insistence that President Obama was foreign-born and illegitimate, he'll begrudgingly acknowledge the truth some day.

    - If he ever gets over his "prayer rugs and duct-taped women everywhere!", of course.

Try to focus. Five teenagers were innocent, and Trump demanded they all be killed.

This was like 800 years ago, who cares about what he said back then.

Back then Obama believed marriage was between a man and a woman so maybe Trump has evolved like Obama did.

No, they were guilty when he said that.

Now if Trump were to say that about people not convicted of something you may have a point.

Advocating lynching is just not the same as advocating marriage between same sex humans.

What's the big deal about executing teenagers anyway? The best time to pull weeds is when they are short and weak.

I see that several of the prosecution have suffered political, job, and financial upsets since all this came out.

Good. I have no use for DA personnel who do not understand that they work for all of us and the truth, not their pet agendas.
