    So with reading being fundamental ;)

    Two years later after Matias Reyes confessed to the crime.

    No, it was actually 30 years ago, not 800, and Trump was the only one who took out full-page newspaper ads demanding that the teenagers, subsequently proved innocent, be killed.

    If Trump was so eager to share his bloodlust then, why is he so averse to share any progress he may have made since.

    Why, when he has never reacted this way to a White mass murderer who has actually been convicted, did he do so regarding five teenagers who had not even been tried?

    Trump haters have certain logic inhibitors that mask out certain pertinent criteria on most subjects!!

    Of course. This is President Trump's fault.

    Unfortunately, most Leftists support Presumption of Guilt in cases of Sexual Misconduct. They understand that innocent men will be destroyed, but they are willing to sacrifice these men.

    Trump and the word apology don't belong on the same page.

    1) That's how they got fingered because they assaulted several people in the park that night;
    2) They confessed so there were a lot of people who thought they were guilty including;
    3) The prosecutor and the jury.

    I doubt if Trump is man enough to admit that calling for the State to kill poor teenagers who turn out to be innocent was a mistake, especially as a pampered white billionaire in a nation where rich people are never executed, and the poor people who are are disproportionally non-white.

    It demands integrity, a strength of character of which feeble narcissists are incapable.

    It's true that the advanced, democratic nations (unlike leaders in the practice China, Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia) that no longer surrender the right to kill citizens in cold blood to the government all have a Christian ethos.

    It would seem that you would go after an ambitious prosecutor who got a guilty confession out of the five innocent men rather than a man who was appalled at the violence of the crime and wanted those guilty of the crime to be put to death.

    There are people that I would just as soon be put to death for their horrific acts. I suspect that at the time this horrific crime was committed, I would have agreed with Trump.

    The problem is that all too often the wrong people are executed. I am now apposed the death penalty for this very reason.

    That it is 1) China, 2) Iran, 3) Iraq, and 4) Saudi Arabia that most enthusiastically still embrace it is telling.

    Most advanced, democratic nations have come to recognize that the State is not infallible, as demonstrated in this case where, if one wealthy blowhard had gotten his way, five innocent teenagers would be dead.

    I suspect at that time when most people most likely thought the five were guilty , they would have agreed with Trump. I know it is likely that I would have.
    At that time, they were thought to be guilty and as far as the law was concerned, they were guilty.

    I have said repeatedly that I am opposed to the death penalty and have been for a long time because of the uncertainty. I cannot say for sure what my views were at that time, but I suspect I would have agreed with Trump. It was a horrendous crime and as far as we knew they were guilty.

    Fallacy of false criteria, Spooky.

    No one was investigating on behalf of the accused at the time.

    That is certainly how the media played it, but the blowhard buying full pages in newspapers calling upon the State to kill the five innocent teenagers before any had been convicted was clearly not your normal response.
