Donald Trump Plans Executive Order On Social Media After Twitter Places Fact Checks On Some Of His Tweets

President Donald Trump threatened to “strongly regulate” or close down social media platforms after Twitter’s decision to placed a fact-check link to two of his tweets.

On Tuesday, when Trump claimed that California’s move to send mail-in ballots to all voters would lead to widespread fraud, Twitter put a link on one of his tweets for the first time. The link, “Get the facts about mail-in ballots,” directed users to news stories debunking claims of election cheating.

Xi Jinping would be proud to see Trump take action.

I cannot even imagine how many rightwingers would have taken up their guns to defend the Constitution if Obama had done the same thing....

He will become more unhinged the closer we get to the election as his election chances remain somewhat spotty. Remember, over the past week he's likely been informed the different polling showing his support ebbing among folks he thought were a lock. Granted, these are just polls of a microscopic amount of the U.S. population, but the politicians live and breathe by them.

And the humorous part about it all is this. He has done it to himself. Since Biden became the front runner, this has pretty much been Trump's election to lose. He even had a chance to be a great leader dropped on his lap with COVID-19 but he supremely screwed that all up. At some level he probably knows it too.

Biden is a terrible candidate. If he wins in the fall, it's going to be rather surprising. I'm still fairly certain he will lose, but I'm less certain than I was a month ago. And Trump being Trump, he still has plenty of time to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

We need a fairness doctrine for social media.

I bet the left goes violent over Trump’s actions. They’re always violent. Anything can be solved with a little burning and looting.

    ..fake news..

The responsibility, biases, agendas, and activism of any corporation are subject to regulations. The FCC oversees many such restrictions, with the media and other information outlets. Regulating internet corporations has been a hotly debated topic for years, and the attempt to use this as a 'Trump Bash!', only exposes Trump Derangement Syndrome.

    The
So if Twitter moves their headquarters to Rome and hosts their web servers from there what level of jurisdiction would the FCC have?

This is utter nonsense. They do not provide news they provide opinions and sometimes opinions may link to some new stories but that doesn’t make them a new source.

If this would destroy Twitter and Facebook and they disappear to the ethers of history, it would make me a very happy person.

Without Twitter there would be no President Trump

That is the debate. Do multinational corporations have the right to interfere with US elections? Would FISA be involved, in any social media activism? Why should multinational corporations, or individual billionaires be exempt from regulations on political activism, but PACS, broadcast media, and other national must comply with fairness regulations?

Twitter doesn’t broadcast. You do when you post. You’re welcome to write an Op Ed and have it printed on your towns local newspaper. That’s not election interference anymore then I would link an article on Twitter calling Trump the devil.

The only person I see trying to interfere with an election through Twitter is the president himself.

And I absolutely hate Twitter and Facebook. I hate them with a passion. I think they are scourge on our society. But this is a blatant overreach.

    No, they censor..
So why should they get total freedom to pitch their globalist agenda, but American corporations have to follow fairness and transparency regulations?

I submit that when a candidate blatantly lies on social media the candidate is interfering in the election and it is right and proper for the same to offer fact finding links.

There are many young adults (like my daughter) who only get their news through Twitter. Because of that, she’s a left wing Democrat.

In the 21st century, Twitter is a news source.
