This editorial is perhaps the best explanation for Trump's popularity ... follow link to the complete article. Lengthy, but worth the read.

Written by Evan Sayet... the author of The KinderGarden of Eden: How The Modern Liberal Thinks. His lecture to the Heritage Foundation on this same topic remains, some ten years later, by far the single most viewed lecture in their history.

What do you think, Trump supporters? Personally, I think its a reasonable explanation of why we dont cringe nearly as often as our friends on the left. IMO, what he does is a thousand times more important than what he tweets. :)

WOW!!! EVERY accusation this writer makes about leftists is highly opinionated partisan propaganda that gives the impression of being irrefutable fact. . . . And yet he calls them out for being the SOLE supporters of "fake news".

Further, he denigrates the left for being undignified and overly aggressive, but applauds Trump for using the same tactics. . . . And knife wielding, violent activists want to wage war against conservatives who are presumably in possession of assault rifles????????

The implication of his military references is that Trump is specifically suited for an internal war that is in existence NOW in our country, but, as his predecessors, he would be unacceptable as a leader in peacetime. . . . Do we REALLY want to go there????

Of course, Trump has been quite successful in convincing Americans that there really is an internal war going on. . . . But inflammatory rhetoric is NOT the solution, nor is any attempt to exacerbate the division. We need a "peacemonger", not a "warmonger".

trump's popularity has never exceeded 40% most of which is his rally cheering squad. Internationally, his approval soars to 20%. He da' man.

He's ruffling feathers that need to be ruffled.

I hope he goes another 6+ years infuriating the deep state/entrenched Washington bureaucracy. And I hope he continues to piss off countries that act against U.S. interests with bad trade deals.

There's no way anyone besides a brawler like Trump could survive the entire government trying to take him down.

The sweet, impotent, incompetent rage coming from insane leftists is like the most wonderful music.

It isn't the "decorum" so much as the lack of personal dignity and authenticity that bothers me.

Huh? He's been in the public eye since I was a kid, and he's the same guy he ever was.

You can say a lot of things about Trump, but not authentic?

Yes. How can anyone who has seen him since they were a kid call him authentic? He's faked being his own publicist to spread lies about his dating life, he lied to people to get them to sign up for Trump University, he had fake Time magazine covers, he lied about thousands of NJ Muslims celebrating on 9/11, he claimed the parents of Korean war soldiers asked him to bring their sons' remains back, etc. etc. I guess it is possible he's gone an entire week of his life without lying, but it borders on superstition to believe so.

Trump is gross, uneducated, sloppy in his speech and thinking and most likely has dementia.

The article makes a lot of excuses for him.

Lots. Most of the people in my life. DennisTate. Public figures? Joe Rogan and Sam Harris are good examples. Don't always agree with them, but they are authentic people. Don't recall any of them faking Time magazine photos, paying off mistresses, lying to the public constantly, etc. Got any defense of Trump's authenticity instead of just deflection?

    LoL Seth Rogan. Ok great.

Trump is who he has always been. I didn't vote for him because I admire everything about him, I voted for him because I knew he was more authentic than our government, and he would work very hard to improve the country.

Trump is relentless in his work ethic and his desire to win. Say what you want about him but he loves this country.

Everyone has flaws, even Seth Rogan. lol.

I would have gone with Sowell, but you do you.

This again. Obama, Obama, Obama. Every post like this contains the underlying admission that Trump is a dirt bag.

I corrected that mistake before you responded. Meant to say Joe Rogan

An inauthentic grifter. A consummate con man. Yes that never changed
He's as inauthentic as they come. No one can shove their head far enough into the sand to be blind to that.
