The following is just small excerpt from the executive summary of the Military Security Development Involving China 2020 Annual Report to Congress. Trump wants everyone to believe he has been so involved with military and beating China. This is embarrassing that a man who claims to do so much has lost control of the military intelligence battle.

Trump has also stated that China would be paying tariffs on goods and that is not the case, the American importers pay the tariffs and then passes those fees onto the American consumer.

I can't just blame Trump, every president for the past 20 years has gotten played and duped by China, including the UN who has it's fair share of Chinese representatives partaking in foul play.

We need new and different leadership in the office.

MISSIONS, TASKS, & MODERNIZATION OF CHINA’S ARMED FORCES IN THE “NEW ERA” >
The PRC’s strategy includes advancing a comprehensive military modernization program that aims to “basically” complete military modernization by 2035 and transform the PLA into a “worldclass” military by the end of 2049. >

The PLA’s evolving capabilities and concepts continue to strengthen the PRC’s ability to counter an intervention by an adversary in the Indo-Pacific region and project power globally.

OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF DEFENSE Annual Report to Congress: Military and Security Developments Involving the People’s Republic of China vii >

In 2019, the PLA continued to make progress implementing major structural reforms, fielding modern indigenous systems, building readiness, and strengthening its competency to conduct joint operations. > China has already achieved parity with—or even exceeded—the United States in several military modernization areas, including: –

Shipbuilding: The PRC has the largest navy in the world, with an overall battle force of approximately 350 ships and submarines including over 130 major surface combatants. In comparison, the U.S. Navy’s battle force is approximately 293 ships as of early 2020. China is the top ship-producing nation in the world by tonnage and is increasing its shipbuilding capacity and capability for all naval classes. –

Land-based conventional ballistic and cruise missiles: The PRC has developed its conventional missile forces unrestrained by any international agreements. The PRC has more than 1,250 ground-launched ballistic missiles (GLBMs) and ground-launched cruise missiles (GLCMs) with ranges between 500 and 5,500 kilometers. The United States currently fields one type of conventional GLBM with a range of 70 to 300 kilometers and no GLCMs. –

Integrated air defense systems: The PRC has one of the world’s largest forces of advanced long-range surface-to-air systems—including Russian-built S-400s, S-300s, and domestically produced systems—that constitute part of its robust and redundant integrated air defense system (IADS) architecture.

China’s modernization has been going on for many years

China’s navy might have the most ships, but tonnage wise we have over twice what they do.

I’m not sure why you think this is embarrassing. China has been investing very heavily in their military. What do you want to do, go to war before they build up more? At the moment we are still ahead in the arms race. All we can do is try and stay ahead of them, unless you want actual conflict. That would be very ugly.

I'm assuming you didn't read the whole post so I will help you out.

China is the top ship-producing nation in the world by tonnage and is increasing its shipbuilding capacity and capability for all naval classes

Secondly, it's embarrassing because we have aided them in gaining this power by weak trade negotiations and lack luster involvement in growing our own country. We have also not been a strong presence in building allies on this side of the ocean or on that side. We are giving up power and control willingly

~ Very likely much of China's ships are the equivalent of large bathtubs with a motor. They have a hard time designing anything of quality without stealing the model from others.
~ That's one big reason Trump is president.

you do realize Trump is the reason behind many of China’s advancements? He has poor trade negotiations and this China trade war has depleted our agricultural operations and wiped out the steel industry. He also has big corporations getting richer by imposing tariffs on American importers and then those tariffs get passed to the American consumer after stating China would pay... he is very poor at being president

~ I disagree. Trump may actually be responsible for weakening the CCP. He is the first to stand up to China. Previous administrations allowed and assisted China's rise to power

You’re playing right? Under Trumps watch China has developed a military more powerful than the US in many areas. The only thing we hold above China is nuclear power, other than that China is walking all over Trump

he hasn’t won any lol. They dominate in Europe, China owns a good portion of our economy with all the outsource, land ownership and now they are imposing tariffs on our goods going into China and we are actually paying those tariffs. China has cut off funding to many domestic entities and leaving those entities without capital because Trump hasn’t built an economy made for in house development. Dude is clueless

A few dozen warheads here or there makes no difference. Estimates show China having over 300 nuclear warheads, which is way more than enough to obliterate the US.

Trump has done nothing to stand up to China.

But for some reason his followers believe he has. Don’t get me wrong no President has stood up to China but what fires me up is he says he does. We are getting bullied in the trade war and now military, it’s very embarrassing. He also says Mexico pays for the wall, in what universe because last time I checked we built 5 miles on money from Republican supporters and stole the rest. I mean China is trying to put people in place to get ownership of the entire China sea and we are doing nothing about it.

People can become emotionally attached to leaders to the extent they tolerate things like dishonesty, and believe their words as being sincere. It's kinda like a codependent personal relationship. If you love someone, you tolerate being used and do everything you can to help them. Oral Roberts proved this in spades. Trump is the ultimate result of mass codependency. It's quite fascinating.

It does not happen that way. They have now surpassed the US. Ships, airplanes and other military items cannot be designed and built in four years. They are continuing on a path they were on for years.

I understand that. I didn't say they grew a more powerful military in 4 years, it took them 20. That's why I also stated I can't just blame Trump. What I said was China has made many strides economically because of Trump.

When Trump was trying to reduce the tariffs on our goods, those actions were opposed by democrats.

No. Just pointing out your own words. However, I did an edit and added another comment.

But did "in my own words" say China gained power just in the 4 years of Trump? Or are you assuming? Be careful about assuming

No. They have been doing it for years, but the impression you leave is that Trump materially added to it and that is extremely unlikely given the realities of lead times.

So there's 300 nukes aimed at us. And you put him down for "doing nothing"....? What SHOULD he do?

I don't understand how you got that impression when I clearly stated it wasn't just trump who contributed to their success over the years. What I did say is he has caused a more rapid advancement due to failed economic policies put in place

Definitely not increase their economy with a stupid trade war and continue to encourage polarization within the US. Could definitely start there
