Just when I thought Dirty Donny couldn't get any more narcissistic ... https://edition.cnn.com/2020/04/14/politics/trump-name-checks-coronavirus/index.html "Citing senior agency officials, the Post reported that the words "President Donald J. Trump" would appear in the memo line on the left side of the checks -- marking the first time a president's written name is featured on an IRS check." This is driven by two things, and two things only - and neither of them has anything to do with the good of the country. 1. Bonespurs needs the validation of believing that he is personally responsible for sending out those checks. Narcissism. 2. He will take personal credit for sending out those checks (even though it was Congress that came up with the stimulus package). At some point in the campaign he will remind America that it was his name on those checks. Using the IRS to help him get re-elected. Both pathetic and an abuse of office.
Thought I had already replied to this. Is there another Thread? No matter. I'll repeat.................. Is there no embargo over there stopping politicians using the public purse for political promotion?
I thought there was another one as well but couldn't find it. What he is doing is disgusting but his followers will support him as fervently as they would have opposed H Clinton doing exactly the same thing.
I saw the headline about this last night. It's pretty damn sad. Harmless, but incredibly sad and pathetic.
Well, don't Trump fans claim they are against buying votes with tax payers' money? Let them defend this one.
This is ****ing hilarious. The conservative capitalist 'savior' is sending socialism checks to the entire nation, and its the socialists that are bitching about it ...because they say 'Trump' on them. This is the most ****ing rediculous thing I could ever fathom. Is this the twilight zone, or the most elaborate troll in the history of universe?
It isn't unusual for presidents to be associated with legislation. I don't think Obama typically (or ever) referred to the Affordable Care Act as Obama Care. This is the first time in the history of the country that a president's name has appeared on a check issued by the IRS. That is a serious problem, and you seem to support it. I suspect that your head would explode if H Clinton had won and she had done the same thing.
First of all, I'm no socialist. Not by a long shot. I'm fiscally conservative, which is one of the reasons I am opposed to Trump. I'm not commenting in any way on the wisdom of sending checks. I'm pointing out that Trump putting his name of the checks 1. is the first time any president, ever, has done something like this 2. reveals how insecure and narcissistic he is 3. is an abuse of the office in an effort to boost his (uncertain) chances of re-election
But you do understand that most of the people outraged by this are socialists, right? And not 'fiscal conservatives'?
I don't know of anyone who is "outraged" at the checks going out. A lot of people are disgusted that Trump is narcissistic enough to insist that his name be put on the checks. That SHOULD transcend political parties - everyone should be disgusted by it.
So you don't care that the Coward in Chief is so insecure that he needs this to feed his ego? That's a pretty pathetic C-in-C. The country deserves better. And you don't care that he is using the IRS as a way to help get re-elected? Is that because you think it is OK for any president to do so, or is it just OK for Dirty Donny Bonespurs?
Excellent. Next year, when you are upset at something President Biden has done, I hope I remember to remind you to just get over it.
It's not insecurity, it's smart, there's an election coming up and name recognition gets people elected, more so when it's on the money in their hand.
So, you approve of his vote buying stunt? Let's remember that for the future, when it will be your turn again to accuse a Democrat of "vote buying"..
It isn't minor. It is insecurity (not a good characteristic in a president) and it is abusing the office to get elected. He isn't giving them the money. Congress authorised it. Your argument is that anything that any president does to get re-elected is ok.
Considering that most of the funds will be Direct Deposit, I hope we all like it when BY ORDER OF PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP comes blasting out of our computer's speakers any day now.
He’s also trying to buy votes with taxpayer money, but he comes off as so incredibly crass and classless with this stunt that it will likely backfire on him and disgust people even more.
