Collective punishments and unilateral sanctions are prohibited under international humanitarian law. The strategy has always been to create enough economic pain that the military is compelled to topple the government.

John Stockwell, former CIA Director of Operations: The point is to put pressure on the targeted government by ripping apart the social and economic fabric of the country. Now that’s words, you know, social and economic fabric. That means making the people suffer as much as you can, until the country plunges into chaos – until at some point you can impose your choice of governments on that country.

The anti-Trump "Resistance" is quiet on this because they agree with the policy and therefore normie Democrats ignore it and just keep pushing Russiagate.

I'm not going to blame the Trump administration for an inhumane foreign policy that has been in force since Bill Clinton and even before. Kissinger and the Wolfowitz doctrine comes to mind. Our policy is not going to change and will only get worse with the Democrats.

Today the situation in the world is very volatile. Iran is not the only problem. There's a war front developing in the Arctic with Russia, as well as in the Caucasus. Terrorists have been entering Dagestan and Chechnya and they can only be coming from Azerbiajan. Washington it seems is in cahoots with Turkey, and is using the same method that Reagan used to destroy the Soviet Union - and that was to arm the Islamist extremiists in Afghanistan and instigate protests in nations aligned with Russia.

What I noticed is a major change in Russia's attitude especially towards the EU with the Navalny farce. Germany thinks it can lie and do what it pleases to undermine Russia, and then continue having relations as before. Well they're mistaken. I noticed that Russia is not acting as compliant as before and its talk are getting a lot tougher.

The major change though is towards Turkey. It's as if Russia has had it with them. As an example, today Russia gave Greece its full support to extend its territorial waters from 6 to 12 nautical miles. This is a right that all countries have under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982).

Greece didn't claim this right in the past, so it could maintain good relations with Turkey. That ended now that Turkey disregarded the latest talks with Greece and brought its search vessel and war ships into the Greek territorial waters.

The blue in the map is the Greek territorial waters in the Aegean. The white is international waters and the brown is the Turkish territorial waters.

I don't mean to get off topic, but I think that things are heating up in that part of the world very fast, and the murderous sanctions on Iran are only one part of it. If the US doesn't realize that what it's doing isn't leading to WWIII, then they are either naïve or being blinded by some very evil people.

Iran has close relations with Armenia, which would account as to why Israel is helping Azerbiajan militarily. Also Iranian troops are lined up along the border in case the war enters its territory. Besides that, the Azeris who are Turkish but Shias rather than Sunnis, are quite prominent in Iran, so one of the intents of starting a war in Nagorno Karabach could have been to create an internal problem in Iran.

As for Russia and the change in its attitude, another example is that Moscow has finally walked away from the Dutch talks on the MI7 - something they should have done years ago. Years ago, when the Ukrainian mafia failed in killing Putin by shooting down his jet after it left Warsaw; decided to put the blame on Russia for the airliner that they themselves had shot down by mistake.

The sheer evil and hypocrisy of it overwhelms me. In the meetings without any proof, they tried to spin and twist things to get Russia to actually pay for the damages for their own crime.

I sense that Russia is now starting to see our actions as a threat to its security and its very existence, and is beginning to think in terms of war rather than on how to prevent war and get along with the West.

So you think we should send a pallet of crisp greenbacks to the Mullah to reward them for their attack on Benghazi? It's already been done.

My mistake. The greenbacks funded the Mullah's attack on Benghazi

Why the disinformation? The Benghazi attack in Libya had nothing to do with Iran and the Mullahs. The Iranians are Shias, and the attack was by the Sunni Al Queda leader Ansar al Sharia.

We supported Al Queda in Syria under the name Al Nusra, as long as they only beheaded minorities such as Christians and Alawites. The secular Christians and Alawites were the ones under Assad's protection and who supported him, so they were dispensable I guess. That Al Queda attacked Americans as well doesn't seem to matter either?

Is that why Suleimani was seen outside the consulate during the raid?> Is that why, with the legacy of a future Iran deal in balance, Obama gave the order for our military to stand down and let Americans die?

Why would Suleimani who is an Iranian Shia, and who has been fighting Sunni terrorists like ISIS and Al Queda in Syria and Iraq, be in Libya and be supporting the same Sunni terrorists that he's been fighting? You make no sense. Do you realize that Iran is 3,000 miles away from Libya?

Obama's Iran deal had no relationship to the Sunnis in Libya because the Sunnis and Shias are enemies. Also Obama never told the American military to step down. I don't know where you're getting your information from, but it's wrong.

The 2012 Benghazi attack was a coordinated attack against two United States government facilities in Benghazi, Libya, by members of the Islamic militant group Ansar al-Sharia.
    Date: September 11–12, 2012, 21:40 – 04:15 EET (UTC+02:00)
    Location: Benghazi, Libya
Perpetrators: Ansar al-Sharia, Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb
Target: United States diplomatic post and CIA annex

And Hitlers idea was to make the Europeans suffer so they would bow to Germany. It didn't make them right though. And Lenin's idea was to kill off the Christians in Russia so they could install a globalist and atheist one world government. It didn't make the Soviets right either.

What we are doing doesn't make us right either, and we'll probably end up like the others unless it's stopped and there's a lot of repentance. But these are spiritual matters that go beyond human comprehension.

If the people don't feel the pain, they won't contribute to an overthrow. Tough being an Iranian these days.

A number of reports say the same thing. You can believe it was a spontaneous mortar attack instigated by a movie trailer no one watched or you can believe the facts ,,, Obama and his fascist regime jailed an innocent writer to cover their tracks.

But why are we imposing our own ideals on the Iranians? Do we like it when the Sunni jihadists try to impose their ideals on others? Look this has nothing to do with Israel if that's your concern. I no more believe that Palestine and specifically Jerusalem has to be under Islam, simply because that's what they want. What the Iranians do in their own country though is a different story.

What's not the business of the Iranians is being in Iraq, Lebanon and Syria, unless they are there specifically to protect the Shias from terrorists or from being ethnically cleansed by the American backed Kurds, Sunni Turks and/or the Sunni Takfiri Arabs.

Right, and the Iranians were behind 911, and Assad is killing innocents not protecting them, and Al Queda under their new names are the good guys, and the White Helmets are saving children not beheading them, and Putin bombed 6 non existent hospitals in Syria, etc., etc.

Funny you should mention 9/11. How did the perps get to Afghanistan for training? Here's a viewpoint:

Oh for heaven's sake, the Iranians and Saudi's who committed 911 are staunch enemies. What do you think the war in Yemen is about? But look, if the elites in Washington see the American people as being idiots who can be conned easily, then of course they would do it - after all they're not known for their scruples. That way they can cover up their own crimes as well as that of their obedient allies.

General Suleimani was assassinated because he was ready to deliver a letter to the Saudi king to end the war and the killings in Yemen - and that was a no-no to the Washington 'elites'.

War is busting out all over,
from China to the Middle Sea.
It's here and there, and everywhere
    as we shall shortly see.

Washington's policy is sadistic, and formed by people who are reacting to their embedded hatreds rather than through reasoning and logic, so it's bound to fail big time. It will have horrific consequences, not just for Iran, but for the world as well. The stakes are becoming high, as survival mode sets into nations under attack. It's only a matter of time before there's a reaction.

Here's an interesting piece about our faulty policies from the ever brilliant 'Moon of Alabama', not towards Iran though, but towards Russia. The sadistical and warped foreign policy that Washington uses, is the same though. The difference is that Russia had time to prepare for it:

Over the last years the U.S. and its EU puppies have ratcheted up their pressure on Russia. They seem to believe that they can compel Russia to follow their diktat. They can't. But the illusion that Russia will finally snap, if only a few more sanctions are applied or a few more houses in Russia's neighborhood are set on fire, never goes away.

As Gilbert Doctorow describes the situation:

"...The fires burning at Russia’s borders in the Caucasus are an add-on to the disorder and conflict on its Western border in neighboring Belarus, where fuel is poured on daily by pyromaniacs at the head of the European Union acting surely in concert with Washington.

Yesterday we learned of the decision of the European Council to impose sanctions on President Lukashenko, a nearly unprecedented action when directed against the head of state of a sovereign nation.

It is easy enough to see that the real intent of the sanctions is to put pressure on the Kremlin, which is Lukashenko’s guarantor in power, to compound the several other measures being implemented simultaneously in the hope that Putin and his entourage will finally crack and submit to American global hegemony as Europe did long ago..."

The situation as I see it is very worrisome, and reminiscent of WWII. Alliances are shifting, as countries prepare for a war footing. What is worse though, is that my country - which includes of course the 5 eyes, and Germany, are not only aligning themselves, but feeding the Turkish 'beast' as well and helping it grow at the expense of its neighbors.

Right now Armenia is desperately trying to keep the Turks and Azeris from approaching the Iranian border and the dam - which if they gained controlled, would put Iran at their mercy. No doubt this is the intent, and why Israel and Washington have been backing Turkey - unbeknownst to the American people.

It was the so-called "peace movement" which forced Western govts to impose sanctions on Iraq
instead of using force to remove him from Kuwait. As always it's neither Iraq nor Kuwait that interested
    these activists - it's America.
As it was America DID impose sanctions. Then the left railed against America for bringing suffering to
the Iraqi people. Go figure -- no don't, it won't work.
