One of these candidates actually believes what their saying. One of these candidates isnt a partisan hack. One of these candidates put the survival of the species ahead of short term political points. One of these candidates does not fear the party managers, the Permanent State, and the commercial media.

Yep, the guy I supported and voted for is, or was on the wrong side in regards to this issue.

Gabbard was one of a rare few that supported sanders in 2016 and even left the DNC to do that. While the rest of the DNC supported hillary and worked to undermine sanders. Gabbard had integrity!

Gabbard is like sanders on issues that affects working americans but is not like him when it comes to our foreign policy. I will probably support Gabbard but would vote sanders if he runs against trump.

Yes, our oligarchs and our gov't are one, and so is russia's. So you are right, but for the wrong reason. Both of our parties gave us something that looks like oligarchy. But we have two people in DC who don't like it, sanders and gabbard.

Democrats gave us an oligarchy, republicans gave us a plutocracy.

Sanders and Gabbard would certainly change that but change it into something much worse.

Neither one would give us genuine socialism, but you would see an expansion of the Commons. I don't see that as worse at all. Neither would get rid of capitalism and nationalize the production of goods and services, destroying the private sector. Cortez might.

Getting rid of capitalism in the US is very iffy, it's never been tried so we don't know what the effects would be.

    We are not Europe.

We are basically on our own here.

No one except perhaps cortez wants to get rid of it. But she does not represent the DP, nor working or middle class americans and certainly not capitalism.

Sanders and gabbard represent an expanded commons. The right calls it socialism, but a Commons has always existed in civilizations, long before Marx was born. The size and scope of the Commons is what varies. If it gets larger, the right calls it socialism, even as capitalism is the economic model that finances it through income, taxes, produced by capitalism.

From what I can tell, the real deal socialism that the world has seen does not give free stuff, but makes the masses work their arses off, for very little, even starvation, while the elites at the top live like kings, off the backs of the masses who are doing the work.

The right does not consider Gabbard a socialist. They just say that to paint her with a brush. that equates with the government paying for a service (medical care) with running the healthcare industry with all the providers being government employee which is socialism. The right thinks americans can't tell the difference, and they just don't equate it with paying for Armaments like they should. Gabbard does not want the Army to build bombs and she doesn't want the government to own hospitals (outside of some very rural areas which actually service more of the republican base.)

A dude at the beach with a boogie board and not a surfboard is like the biggest turnoff in the world.

Socialism is workers control over production. Not state run hospitals.

I think you misunderstood my post.

A hospital is like a factory whose business is a place where people go to get better. A resort is where people go to relax. A factory is where people go to produce things or provide services. What is the difference? They are all privately owned, and provide a service for a fee. It makes no difference what the service that entity produces. If the government runs it and the employees are government workers it is socialist. The army, navy, police, tax collection, and border patrol are socialist programs. The goverment determines the objective, how to achieve the objective and hires and oversees the workforce used to accomplish the objective. Paying for a company to build Abrams tanks or Fighter aircraft or navy ships is not socialism even if the product is built to government specifications. The army corp of engineers is socialist. Natick labs is socialist.
    Los Alamos is Socialist.

Therefore medicare for all is not socialist- the government is paying for the service provided by the hospital, a private entity.

Everytime the right says medicare for all is socialism, they have to be called out on it.
