President Obama, sometimes his own worst enemy... Since George Washington, United States Presidents offered remarks of thanksgiving at various points of their tenure in office. President Abraham Lincoln officially began our annual Thanksgiving Day celebration in late November 1863 with a proclamation making it a Federal Holiday. An excerpt from Lincoln's Proclamation: "I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union." Typically, all Presidents since Lincoln have offered up remarks or a proclamation toward Thanksgiving. Usually, they also include a reference to God within those remarks. Here's a snippet from each POTUS since old Abe's... Ulysses S Grant, 1869: Therefore I, Ulysses S. Grant, President of the United States, do recommend that Thursday, the 18th day of November next, be observed as a day of thanksgiving and of praise and of prayer to Almighty God, the creator and the ruler of the universe; and I do further recommend to all the people of the United States to assemble on that day in their accustomed places of public worship and to unite in the homage and praise due to the bountiful Father of All Mercies and in fervent prayer for the continuance of the manifold blessings he has vouchsafed to us as a people... Rutherford B.Hayes, 1877: Under a sense of these infinite obligations to the Great Ruler of Times and Seasons and Events, let us humbly ascribe it to our own faults and frailties if in any degree that perfect concord and happiness, peace and justice, which such great mercies should diffuse through the hearts and lives of our people do not altogether and always and everywhere prevail. Let us with one spirit and with one voice lift up praise and thanksgiving... Continue here...
President Obama, sometimes his own worst enemy... As an example, these discussions about Obama's worn-out messages and his delivery style were very good! "We are not going to have an America in which only a sliver of folks have an opportunity,” the President said. This is what he thinks of America. He agrees with the out-of-touch Occupy Wall Street movement that America is rigged to favor the wealthy, and his No. 1 duty is to “spread the wealth around.” "The President thinks he can’t get his legislation through Congress because the people haven’t heard him clearly. So he travels around the country giving this same speech over and over. But he is failing precisely because they are listening, and they don’t like what they hear."
Perhaps I'm the turkey? I went to the White House website and actually looked for the darn proclamation and did not see it. It was there, I just didn't scroll down the page far enough. Plus, I'd reviewed his weekly address, which are the actual remarks he's being taken to task for. So, to clear this up.... 1) President Obama most certainly included references to God in his actual Thanksgiving Day Proclamation. The relevant section: As we gather in our communities and in our homes, around the table or near the hearth, we give thanks to each other and to God for the many kindnesses and comforts that grace our lives. Let us pause to recount the simple gifts that sustain us, and resolve to pay them forward in the year to come. 2) There weren't any direct references to God within his weekly address. Clearly, I messed this up...
Maybe those oversized butt implants killed two birds with one stone....mating plumage and tightening the skin on her face?
he equates thanks to each other to thanks to his Allah and moreover he puts thanks to each other before thanks to God. He has no feeling and no clue about Almighty God of the FF.
This was an interesting statement from his Thanksgiving address: From my family to yours, I’d like to wish you a happy Thanksgiving. Like millions of Americans, Michelle, Malia, Sasha and I will spend the day eating great food, watching a little football, and reflecting on how truly lucky we truly are. Most Christians would say they're truly BLESSED. But truly LUCKY might actually be a more apt description when it comes to the Obama's.
