You know Sobo, when Saint Paisios told someone what will happen to Turkey, he was asked; 'but what about the poor people?' He responded that there wasn't one decade when they haven't committed atrocities, and yet God would save them if they repented. Well they haven't. From what I hear from the Turks, their mentality is exactly the same as it has always been.

Anyway the threats towards Greece and Cyprus over the territorial waters in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean is serious, and Greece believes a war is imminent. They are prepared to protect the Aegean islands if not Cyprus, but there is a fear of Albania invading since they are aligned with Turkey. I think there are terrorists camps there, but I'm not sure.

The Ottomans were stopped at the gates of Vienna, I think by the Polish army but I'm not sure, and by the brave Knights of Malta. I don't know of Vlad the Impaler, but it doesn't matter, like Count Dracula he would have been copying what the Ottomans were doing to the Christian soldiers anyway.

The Ottoman Empire didn't grow because they were such great soldiers, and that includes the famed Janissaries who were mostly children taken as a tax from Serbs and Greeks. It grew because of the Ottoman deceptions and lies, which they were allowed to do freely towards non Muslims. Unlike the Greeks and Serbs, the Turks could be very charming, which was something they used to their advantage so they could pit one group against the other.

It didn't help of course that the Europeans were always at odds with one another. Even when the Ottomans were sitting outside the gates of Constantinople, the people refused to go into the Church of Aghia Sophia because a Latin Mass had been held there. For six months the Genovese fought with the Venetians and the Greeks with the Italians. Only the Emperor could control them.

It ended though the day before the Ottomans took over the city when a fog was seen rising from Aghia Sophia and they all panicked. Some say that the veil of protection was being lifted, and others that it was the Holy Spirit leaving the Church. Anyway they all rushed into the Church to worship, but it was a bit too late I think.

''ErdogaErdogan sees himself as the one 'chosen' by Allah to complete the conquest of Rome and Europe.n sees himself as the one 'chosen' by Allah to complete the conquest of Rome and Europe.''

Erdogan was in a ceremony yesterday to start a new Orthodox Church construction. Nobady migrate to to propagate the faith. Not only Muslims migrates, there are many Christian Africans migrates too. And they escape from war starvation...

''But it's not just him, it's Turkish policy on a whole. If it wasn't so, they would not have managed to get Kissinger to support them when Nixon was being impeached, and grab 1/3 of Cyprus when the Turkish population was only 11%. In the meantime, the 200 thousand displaced Greek Cypriots were thrown into refugee camps. Nor would the former Ottoman Turks in Bosnia and Kosovo have ended up with the support of Germany and US, while 500 thousand displaced Serbs ended up in refugee camps.''

I don't know how it is related with today's immigration issue. I don't know past very well but I remember that Turkey and North Cyprus accepted ''Annan Plan'' in 2004 to unite the island but South rejected it. with more than %75. If they would accept this plan now we were not discussing gas problem in Mediterrianned as well.

    @Jeannette

Why can't Greece just ferry them back?
    Catch, ferry, release. Immediately!

Who the hell wants a Muslim Turkey led by Erdoğan in the EU? Turkey has zero chance of gaining admission to the EU. Is there a chance less than zero?

Erdoğan still wants to have Turkey join the EU. You guys would be crazy to let them get their noses in the tent. Out of your minds! Millions of poor Muslims would move to other EU countries.

If one man slaughters in the name of nationalism, he’s a monster; if he uses the government do it for him, he’s the “Savior of the nation”. Well, I’ve heard that before. No thanks.

When the migrants first started coming before the refugee crisis they tried to send them back and they would be found floating in the water so they stopped. How could you send them to their death? If someone accused Turkey, they would say the Greeks killed them. This doesn't mean there aren't some disreputable Greeks, I'm sure there are - but they don't kill.

With the refugee crisis 4 thousand were arriving every day. The traffickers were charging $10 thousand a head and they would pack 50 in a raft - including children. Unless my math is off, the traffickers were making $40 million a day - and I'm sure the Turkish police and coast guard were getting their cut.

Some refugees said the police would confiscate their money before putting them on the raft, and if they refused to get on they would be pushed on. The waters between Turkey and the islands are treacherous, and sometimes the motors would die. If the rafts were in Greek waters they would get help, but if in Turkish waters the volunteers could see the Turkish Coast Guards through their binoculars trying to topple the boats.

The morgues in Lesvos were packed and the worse were the dead children. They found one disreputable merchant in Tsezme selling life jackets to children packed with foam, so that the minute they went into the water they would sink. Afterwards the traffickers began sending over migrants with Syrian passports and to make it look believable they would have one or two children in the rafts.

The Greeks consider it a Turkish invasion.
