First of all I'm not creating this thread to feed my "Turkish ego", but for those who are against "foreigner people" and to prove that multiculturalism has not failed, at least not with Turks. I've also read that many English people especially around Dalston and Hackney praised Turks and Turkish shopkeepers for protecting those towns from their Twitters and I'm happy to see this :)

Here's statements of Murat Korkmaz, a Turkish shopkeeper from London:
"Aprox. 200 black looters attacked. But as 60-70 Turks we could manage to push them back. I saved a black woman with a child from a bus which was burned by the looters. A little number of policemen of were encouraging us to chase the looters by saying 'You all go from front, we'll back you up'"
(From Hurriyet newspaper, 10th August 2011, page 22)

Common people of all races and religious backgrounds seeking to protect themselves from scum is not a sign that multiculturalism works. It is a sign that decent people exist across all cultures and that scum exist across all cultures. These basic facts hardly are an endorsement of multiculturalism because a dominant culture must exist in any society and this is a problem throughout the western world.

    Good for the Turks!

Back in 1992 when the Blacks rioted in Los Angeles, it was the Korean shop owners who got out their Uzi's and held off the mob. Just like the London police, LAPD back then was very slow to react and ineffective.

It took almost 3 days for NG to deploy (And another 20+ hours for them to get live ammo)

It still failed, just because turks and other protect their property does not mean integration of a multicultural society work. Ask any German if the Turks do well. OR Dutch ^^

    Breath,...

    Most Turks are well integrated.

What I like about Turks, Morrocans, Tunisians, etc. -- and I'm sure DutchClog will support me on this -- is their "neigberhood shops" (or in Dutch: "buurtwinkels"). They are always open (or longer than the "neighberhood shops" owned by e.g. Dutch or Belgian people), way cheaper, way friendlier (you often get free stuff), etc.

I would agree that this does not prove that multiculturalism works. Actually it is quite the other way around.

What Turks made during the demonstrations, to wait with sticks without sleeping to protect their shops also they protected the all their neighbourhood.

This is actually East culture and devoloped, because these people get used to live without trust to police. For example in Turkey if i have a problem as last solution i go to Police, the last time i asked him a way and he wanted to check my identity card if i made my military service...

Also Turks, Kurds are dominant and agressive if somebody damages them...

I heard from a friend who lives in USA that in his neighbourhood the blacks who always starts fights and broke everything can't enter only one pub and at this Pub Kurds are working...

Hardly got those here, usually a mix of a kebab store / mini market / bakery.

But its not like there a lot of them considering their population. I endorse their attempts to make a proper business tough always a good thing.

They didn't just protected their businesses, they also protected the county/towns they lived in general, namely Dalston and Heckney. The local English people over there seems very thankful for that so that they vowed tm Turkish shops on that weeks' Saturday (check the Facebook link I provided). Pretty sure multiculturalism with Turks around there has improved pretty much there after this event, the slogan "More baklava less balaclava" from DJ Liam/LD explains pretty much to me ^^

Asked a random German before, that was the answer I got:
"I have no special opinion about Turkish Germans, they are my fellow citizens just like all the other immigrants that came here from Italy, Russia, Poland and elsewhere."

He gave a fair opinion just like Merkel gave her regarding the failed multicultural society. Somehow I trust her a bit more then a random kid who wants to give a political correct answer.

NOBODY can spread chaos in our neighborhood, steal stuff from our shops, break windows etc..- doesnt matter if that neighborhood is in Turkey, Germany or in England, if Turks live in it, we do what we do.

we do what we do, and defend our town.
even if that town is called christianville
