The title of the article is a bit misleading. The fire was on Kurd Positions that happened to be close to a some "Security Mechanism Zone" -

There was "One" (1) mortar round that landed several hundred yards - likely an errant round ... there is a war going on after all.

Also - your comments with respect Turkey "Lying bunch of genocidal traitors" is just as applicable to the the Obama Administration with respect to its activities in Syria - as it is to Turkey.

There were no Kurds in the area attacked and the existence of the base was communicated. The official position of the Pentagon ios that this was a warning shot to scare the US away and that if they tried this BS again those forces would be allowed to return fire. Any notion that these were errant shots (With GPS targeting and knowing the target area was under NATO control? Ya, sure.) is just the Turks trying to backtrack after the Pentagon reacted aggressively rather than timidly submitting like Trump.

Your article doesn't say that there were no Kurds in the area .. The reporting does state that it may well have been inadvertent.

Of course Turkey is not going to say they were intentionally targeting the compound ? How do you see that as "backtracking" - backtracking from what ?

Turkey is fighting terrorism don't you know ... perhaps we should get out of the way.

A Trump mouthpiece said it was an accident. the Pentagon called BS and there were no reports of Kurds in the shelled area, only a US SpecOps team.

Why should Turkey invade a foreign country? It's none of their business what's going on in another country.

Altering quotes is bad form.. Are you a child?

The Turks wanted to stop ISIS because they have over 3 million Kurdish refugees and don't want ISIS bleeding across their border.

The Kurds have been fighting ISIS even though Trump claimed he'd beaten ISIS in 2018.

I quoted you exactly and simply (noted by the ... as is standard) omitted an irrelevant segment (I'm not talking about the Kurds). If you call that poor form, you need to learn from.

To the point you're trying to avoid, the Turks didn't engage IS forces when they reached the Turkish border, they stood by as the IS attempted to exterminate Kobine, the Turks facilitated the IS oil trade and it's an open secret the Turks gave IS fighters access (while denying the same to IKG forces) to outflank YPG positions on the border. The extent of Turkish opposition is the Turks thinking they're the caliphate.

It's because the Kurds live on both sides of the border and on one side of the border they are creating what looks like their own country. And their are also armed groups for decades who are trying to break free of Turkey. Turkey on the other hand tried to erase their culture in Turkey, banning their language etc. Didn't work.

And commited genocide against the Armenians at the beggining of the 20th century.
The Kurds have good reasons to fear the Turks.
