Thank you for offering your very biases and highly slanted opinion. Always interesting to see how people spin facts to suit their ideological leanings.

I live on the one where federal government gets the majority of the tax revenue leaving scraps for the states. Federal government is the bully of the government world. How about you?

You can't and this is the crux of our situation today. Instead of sending innocent troops in harms way, if for example, the president of the US and the president of Iran, were required to have a cage fight to settle their differences...we can guess there will be no cage fights. Further, our government for the past 20 or so years, has taken steps to prevent the horrific images of war deaths and injuries, from the American people...we are told go shopping and live it up! All of this IMO makes it very easy for wars and fighting, no matter at the expense of our soldiers, to be politically motivated. Another issue is our military arrogance in which we believe we can kick anyone's ass and win...while this is mostly true, it ignores the ultimate sacrifice from our soldiers. I just see wars and fighting as a complete breakdown/failure of mankind...

    Aint nuthin' wrong with that.

You just don't like paying taxes, and yet they are necessary for a proper government.

We are able to change governments if we want to, even if the mechanism is botched. Never ever in a true democracy would the loser of a popular-vote be elected PotUZ.

Never ever would an outdated system of Electoral Colleges be necessary to decide who wins a presidential vote.

We are presently living in a democracy that was botched from the get-go in 1812 when it created the Electoral College (on a vote of winner takes-all-EC-votes regardless of the actual vote count) and Gerrymandering to assure that a given political party could obtain a majority.

In no other developed democracy on earth are such machinations of the electoral system allowed ... !

Blah, blah, blah. You'd be happier on Message Board because in a Debate Forum one-liners should not be allowed ... !

The Federal Government only funds about 8% and the States pick up the rest so the majority of school funding is property taxes, not income taxes.

When you have fat plans like they have in Illinois, of course they will be in trouble when the bills come due.

Of course but we have too much tax to help fund too much government.

I appreciate the rant but I don't see how eliminating the electoral college would change the size and cost of government. It would get more democrats elected so that plus all the future voters being imported into the country should put the republicans out of business. Hope it works out well for you.

That's the past-present and I am writing about the future.

I will repeat once again the Prime Consideration for the future of the US, which goes like this:
*We are in a fundamental process of Age Change, as key to the economy has was that of leaving the Agricultural Age and entering the Industrial Age during the latter part of the 19th century. Which sparked the need to make secondary-schooling obligatory.
*The very same process is occurring as we leave the Industrial Age (where only 12% of the labor-force actually works in Manufacturing today) and entering the Information Age, which since the early 1990s is upon us resulting from the advent of the Internet.
*We must send as many as possible of our children up and into post-secondary education - for their own benefit and that of their future-families.
*This is not a wish, it is a well sustained factual necessity that future employment will be directly related to level of education. And it is happening around the world.
*But, if Hillary made it a key part of her platform, having borrowed the idea from Bernie, it appears that once again - for the fifth time in history - the Electoral College preferred the loser of the popular-vote over that of the winner.

Which has all the markings of a democracy in dire straights. The future will be most unkind to such blindness ...

Most post-secondary schooling is useless. Technology is more of a skill then it is a college education so the thing that I have thought was wise is Germany's apprenticeship programs.

Weird, the highest unemployment under Bush was 7.8% Where did you get 10%?

The stimulus was for the most part a failure. For instance, after providing GM with millions, it went bankrupt later under Obama's watch.

No further jobs were created, because Obama drew out the recession to the point business was not willing to grow.

    And so?

That does not matter in the least if the government decides to inaugurate free Tertiary-Education for all citizens of the US. The cost would be subventioned by the US government.

JUST AS IS NOW THE COST OF THE DEPT. OF DEFENSE!

Do you understand, or not, that national healthcare is ... uh, "national" in scope? Wherever it is exists, the cost to the patient is the same for whatever the service and it is established by the government and not individual or collective doctors. (Which is the reason it is so damn expensive in the US nowadays!)

From the BureaU of Labor Statistics here. In 2010, when Obama started his presidency the rate was around 10%.

    BS!

From the start of the Obama presidency you will see that rate started coming down (as shown in the link above)

    BS again!

How does unemployment come down if jobs are no created? Magic?

This is an "Economics Forum" - get your factual information right or post elsewhere ... !
