"The U.S. Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis reports on gross domestic product for the first quarter. Economists surveyed by data provider FactSet had projected a 2% growth rate for the period, on average."

The cult will may to cheer Obama but after 2+ years of very respectable growth economists are attributing the remarkable growth to Trump, as they should.

The only downside is that the great numbers could make the Feds start looking at an interest rate increase they said wouldn't happen this year.

“We're bringing it (the GDP) from 1 percent up to 4 percent. And I actually think we can go higher than 4 percent. I think you can go to 5 percent or 6 percent.”

I get why you libs are so butt hurt... but it really must suck to be an angry lib and watch Donnie hit home runs over and over when Obozo could only strike out.
    - Obama 1st President Not to See Single Year of 3% GDP.

    - Obama said 3% GDP wasn't possible. He said jobs aren't coming back and something about the Don using his magic wand, which he clearly did but it wasn't a magic wand, it was putting the US first and we know Barry would never do that.

...and nice touch adding a liberal hack site as your source. Lmao

Uh, Trump hasn't hit 3% either....
    https://www.multpl.com/us-real-gdp-growth-rate/table/by-year

And never mind that the reason 2018 GDP grew even as much as it did is because of the Republicans putting another $1 trillion on the nation's credit card. Injecting $1 trillion of borrowed money into the economy obviously gooses GDP growth in the short-term, but it drags down growth in the long-term, and isn't actually a responsible thing to do when we're not in recession.

Trump has a knack for getting just enough for good growth and employment, yet not inspiring the fed to go nuts.

MAGA, or in others words, becoming what America used to be, which is MAGA in code.

They won't raise rates till after the election, unless there's disaster. Trump bullied them into not selling off more of their balance sheet, and that's the bad news

When I heard this info on NPR this morning, I knew that the Trump fans on this forum would be out in full force kissing his feet. So predictable...

In any case, while it is easy to credit Trump, anyone could have stimulated an already strong economy with deficit spending. This is really no miracle, no matter how much Trump fans want to spin it into one.

Haha, always someone else's fault, isn't it when it comes to Trump. BTW: Powell is Trump's appointee. Maybe he should have picked a bootlicker instead who would have taken orders from trump to keep interest rates low.

    MAGA! :)

NPR  I bet they gagged having to admit more MAGA winning. They probably drew straws to see who would be stuck choking out the good news.

At least you're honest confessing that you listen to NPR. To quote you, "so predictable..." ;)

Obozo was a 1.6 and you want to trash Trump. Poor sad little man.

Didn't someone say that we will never see above 3.0 GDP again and we must get used to having below 3.0 GDP growth?

Gee, who was it that said that?

    Do you remember?

And how much did the Democrats put on the nation's credit card?

The tax cuts are indefensible given the increased spending, and the Fed should be selling bonds. So, Trump is essentially creating a bubble, and he didn't even deny it when he said he'd be out of office when the debt comes due.

But a lot of people have been thinking for years that the Fed is over aggressive with fears of inflation. The flip side to all those relatively high paying jobs in the MW disappearing is that it's really just cheaper to make consumer **** … and it's a continuing trend.

The left-wingers are saddened by this bit of news.

    The question is why?

How come it didn't work when the Democrats tried it? Are you REALLY claiming that is the only reason, government spending?

And I wouldn't be shocked if we didn't come close to 3% for 2019, but we are creating a bubble just as we did under W.

I think it was the same guy that spied on the Trump campaign and the same guy that traded a deserter for terrorists while sending pallets of cash to Iran.

    It's ringing a bell somewhere. :)
