The U.S. Labor department is reporting that despite the chaotic conditions created by the Omicron variant of Covid U.S. employers added 467,000 jobs to their payrolls in the month of January. This number is far more than anyone anticipated and despite this good news the unemployment rate ticked up one tenth of a percent to 4% from the 3.9% achieved in December 2021.
