Isn't that ironic? Why hasn't allowing more people to own handguns for self defense resulted in fewer victims? Could it be that the guns are not serving the purpose for which they are owned and may even be having the opposite effect?

any increase has nothing to do with Heller and everything to do with the carnage in the hood....a handful of cities are actually pushing the death rate up....all are under liberal control and are bastions of race politics and violent crime..13% are doing 50% of all murders and they don't bother with pathetic little laws and permits

 

any finding by the Vile Propaganda Center is going to be dismissed as biased fraud. Few groups in the USA are more dishonest than that far left disinformation center: first famous for telling the news media to pretend semi automatic rifles are machine guns

 

The report indicates it is based on the 2016 CDC data. Can you link that CDC information. It would carry more weight. What you linked is from the Violence Policy Center. That would be like me linking information from the NRA claiming it as fact. You wouldn't like it. The only information I find at the CDC is for 2015 and it was just released in November. I didn't think the 2016 stats were out yet.

I haven't seen the OP's info yet. I was hoping that the OP might provide an actual source for the information rather than just the VPC.

Nothing to contradict what? The link in the OP goes to the VPC web site. When I get there the article cites the CDC. When I go to the CDC web site there are no stats for 2016 which is what the VPC article is citing. Just wondering where they are getting their info or are they just twisting facts as usual?

I haven't seen that the evidence provided to start with is factual as there is no link to facts. Therefore I would be unable to post something contradictory. I mean I could say "that's BS" because I don't agree with it but we know that kind of comment means nothing; the comment itself being BS.

 

No you could do your own research and give us the numbers you find. I will accept 2015 data

 

And likewise you could do yours or the OP could have done his before posting an article from a gun control group. My point here, and you know it, is the article is not the most reliable source anymore than the NRA is for my side of the argument. The article cites the CDC but the OP didn't bother to go that far and link the CDC info as it was easier for him just to provide the VPC propaganda.

I hear all this talk of "Gun Deaths" so I wonder, what about other crimes of violence, stabbings, beatings that result in death, the knock em out game, or physical assault that results in a paralyzed victim or blinded, or other permanent injuries, when you single out so called "Gun Deaths" then ignore the vast majority of non gun violent crime.

Pimps that abuse and murder prostitutes, sell lethal drugs that cause deaths of victims of drug traffickers.

Reduce crime by incarceration of repeated violent offenders rather than releasing them to offend again.

Did the authors also mention that suffocation/hanging deaths are up by 15% since Heller?
