Massive shortages caused by lockdowns plus massive expansion of the money supply = inflation. It's a global issue because practically all countries pursued these disastrous policies.
I also saw a very interesting report showing how many million fewer barrels of oil OPEC is producing than pre-COVID in addition to their being fewer refineries making the type of gas America consumes. It is fascinating how all of these events are trying together for the hyper partisans to say it is policy positions from one man and if their party was in control none of this would happen. Almost like some have no concept of reality (and / or integrity).
