Consider, some years ago when people had to go inside and root through a closet just to find the Brownie we still ended up with many (albeit fuzzy and indistinct) photos of UFOs

Now, when everybody carries a HD video camera in their pocket, we get none at all.

That really doesn't make sense, Even if they were all fakes before we have 100x as many fakers and better fake makers, shouldn't there at least be more fakes?

Instead we get nothing. Can UFO's make themselves invisible to digital devices or what?

I wouldn’t say there is a massive number of “UFO” images out there considering we’re looking back over 50+ years of mainstream domestic photography. I also think the low quality of earlier photography is a factor since a clearer photo of the same thing is likely to make it easily identifiable.

I think the pattern of “UFO” sightings more follows a social pattern of interest in “space stuff”. The peak comes as pulp science fiction becomes popular and dies down as fashion moved on to different styles. I think it’s even been suggested that iconic “UFO” elements such as the classic flying saucer and little green/grey man actually appears in fiction before they were reported in any real-world sightings. I think the space-race, the rapid development of military and commercial aircraft technology and the manner in which governments responded to reported “UFO” sightings will have played key roles in various ways too.

These days the general fears aren’t about invasions and attacks from the skies but hidden infiltrators and terrorists and hence our fantasy fiction follows similar themes. Where in the past we’d have conspiracies about flying saucers and little green men now it’s about secret organisations and aliens hiding amongst us.

Yeh, the Samsung 7 does make it a lot easier to see the "Southwest" Logo on the mysterious visitor from other worlds..

Still, there were LOTS of UFO's at one time, now, none. Were they ALL artifacts of Analog (the magazine of Science Fantasy and Fact)?. Was nothing that was strange in our skys also real?

The Height of the UFO craze was in the 50's, either the real Aliens stopped coming or became better at hiding. Or there are less Flying Saucer movies, and people are not so easily influenced by Sci Fi.

True enough, one has to wonder how much of UFO lore comes from the X-Files (AND how much of the XFiles came from UFO's, fascinating process of cross-fertilization there)

It hasn't really stopped though, it's just become weird, lots of cattle mutilations and probing abductees.
