    ... For the uninitiated, The Windrush was ship like the Mayflower.
    The Windrush is why Britain's black.
    I have a grandmother who is a retired school teacher who taught a school near Brixton and was front row to it all seeing children from the West Indies who were raised by their grandparents and then sent over to the UK to be with their parents.
    The same generation of children who grew up in the UK and are 'the Windrush Generation;
    Having just arrived on The Windrush and straight into my grandmother's classroom; the same grandmother who's a living WWII Vet' for the royal air force who served on radar, that one. - She became a school teacher and remembers when they came.
    Before then, there was no black people in Britain.

    So in 2009 the UK under Gordon Brown decided to destroy their landing cards and in a wild deportation action in 2011, these people thanks to 2009 were cracks in the system cut off from the UK state in the UK but only supported by their families facing the threat of being deported to a country that they had no more ties to when the current Prime Minister / Theresa May was head of the that branch of government during that Tory/Lib-Dem coalition.

    Yesterday the Prime Minister made an overdue u-turn on this and has apologised.

    IMO, there should be back pay now awarded of benefits missed these people are entitled to in this apology and all driving licenses reinstated immediately with out cost to the individual who the UK took it from.

    I think the government should issue a new identity card for Windrush migrants for health services and gaining employment. The UK Border Agency probably didn't consult the top officials before destroying landing cards in 2009. It was an administrative error which was committed without thinking about legal consequences. Border agents are not very smart people.
