What are your thoughts? What does Britain make? Who does Britain sell too? Last big deal I heard was selling war planes to Turkey... But I'm not one to keep my ear to the ground and it seems, to me anyway, that Britain buys and sells all the time.
Food and drink. We make and sell a butt load. The trade is 40% global and 60% domestic. We import more than we export. And again, from everywhere. We make whiskey and more cheeses than the French. We make bits of planes for the US, the EU, the Aussies, the Saudi's, the Germans the Italians, and a few others beside. Tear gas for all nice governments of the world. We make Nissans which are sold both here and on the continent. Mostly on the continent. We make chemicals. Because of the oil we have all the by products. Plastics, paints thinners, all that jive. Diesal, petrol, kerosene. It's sold on the open market, but we buy more than we sell. We are net importers. We make jet engines. Roll Royce. We sell the odd naval vessel. Canada, India, UAE. We make fertilizers and weedkillers. We are world leaders in agriculture. They are sold globally. Detergents the same. We sell tourism and entertainment. TV shows and video games. Boy bands and girl bands sell globally as well as they do here. We do finance globally, we sell insurance or debt or investments. We make luxury clothes. Vivian Westwood. We make Formula one cars. All of them. We make radars and missiles and satelittes. Computer chips. The Z80 chip in every traffic light.
In regards to... Are made in the UK... Under license. We pay for the right to these American companies out in America for UK to make UK / European versions of stuff in the UK.
That's why I'm planning to go to America, to touch base with the genuine articles for a week or two, instead of all this made under license b/s.
