I agree. China is a vastly greater threat. They have a dictator who rules for life, they're moving into Africa just as the Soviets moved into South America, he heads a quasi-Fascist state which has merged state and corporate power. And their totalitarian policy on free speech is increasingly a model for the West.

Nobody seems to care. Everyone is neurotically obsessed with Russia.

There is a good chance that in this century there will be world war with China. It's time for us to wake up.

Has Putin said a single word about Zelensky??? I don't know anything about mocking him and calling him a clown.

I was referring to a topic starter. He says Zelensky is a clown and his election is a good news for Putin.

They also need exports. Lots and lots of exports. That keeps them afloat economically. Actually, they also rely on imports, such as automobiles. They aren't building their own cars and trucks, by and large, but are finally beginning to develop a proper automotive industry now. They are also as reliant on Asia as anyone else for all sorts of information technology and gadgetry imports, of course, as well as American and European technology. Heck, remember when they were going to buy those carriers from France before the deal got axed? So actually, Russia does depend quite a lot on imports, as well as exports. No, they're nowhere near as self-sufficient as you claim.

Feel welcome to compare the following nation's GDP versus national debt and THEN tell us what you think:
    Russia
    China
    United States

Here -- I'll help you put this in perspective: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_public_debt . Question: why don't either Russia or China have skyrocketing, huge national debt...?

Can you understand how having a dictatorial, all-powerful central bank like the Federal Reserve System cartel taking over total control of a nation's economy with its funny little bag of 'magic tricks' wasn't a very good idea after all...?!

Hint: Both Russia and China control their own economies and currencies -- not a smothering, internationalist, independent central bank.... The U. S. used to have a Treasury Department that saw to all our 'banking' needs, along with direct, effective participation by the other branches of the United States Government. Certainly, since August of 2007, that is no longer true at all....

Another hint: did you know that Vladimir Putin holds several college degrees, including a Ph.D in economics.... :omg:

I'm not Putin's 'biographer', an adoring member of his 'fan club', or YOUR secretary -- go look it up if you're so curious!

I have read a quite a bit about this remarkable opponent, however, and it's a great pity that President Bush didn't reach out to him, and to Russia, after the horrible terrorist murders in Beslan in 2004, committed by Muslim terrorists. But, I don't suppose you know anything about that, either....

Want to develop an elementary, factual understanding of who Vladimir Putin is and how he rose to power? Here's a book you may want to read:
    https://www.amazon.com/Putin-by-Hut...tchins&qid=1556032973&s=books&sr=1-1-fkmrnull

If not, then go on telling us how 'great' we're doing, and how neither Russia nor China amounts to 'a hill of beans'....

I've got my own bullet points too. You should learn the difference between an outhouse, a cesspool system, and centralized (city) sewer systems. Over 20% of the population in the U.S. is not on city sewer (60 million people). That is more people not on centralized sewer systems than in Russia, by far. So get over it.

There are two major TV stations in Kiev. One is owned by Poroshenko, and the other by the foul mouthed mafia don who hates Russia; Kolomoisky. Zelensky worked for Kolomoisky and has to do his bidding or he won't survive - and I mean that literally. Kolomoisky is the one who bombed the Russians in Slaviansk with white phosphorous for not allowing fracking.

He's also the one who had the Russian protesters in Odessa burned and hacked, as well as being under suspicion for being the one who shot down the airliner. Kolomoisky wanted the land it fell on for fracking, and it had just been taken over by the separatists. This is why the separatists refused to give up the land when asked by the investigators.

Also what the investigative reporter Robert Parry of Consortiumnews found when the airliner was shot down, is that the big bucks thrown around Washington so they'll keep the blame on Russia came from some Cypriot company called Burisma Holdings. When he traced the company it turned out its owner was Kolomoisky - which by the way is the firm Bidon's son works for.

What the Russians want is a president that will be chosen by the majority of the Ukrainian people, as it had before the coup at Maidan. They are not going to get it with Zelensky, unless everything that Moscow has on Kolomoisky scares him to the point that he will do Moscow's bidding. I doubt it!

Anyway I don't think that after all the killings of civilians in the Donbass Republics, which is still going on, that the Donbass republics will want to re-unite with Ukraine. Besides, they were forced by Kiev's actions to integrate more and more with Russia, and there's no way that can be changed now.

And here I thought the US was dependent on Russian rockets, but I guess rockets are not high tech enough for you. As for the carriers, it was a favor to France but now they built their own thank you.

Anyway you know damn well that none of what you wrote is true, so why are you persisting in the propaganda? Do you think you're going to hurt Russia by lying to the American people - as if the Russians could give a damn. I say give it up! Your liberal new world order is dead, so face it. Thank you Vladimir Putin.

You didn’t read the bulletin point. It says over 60% of Russians in rural areas have no sewer.
I’m the US there is no centralized sewer system, but everyone has own autonomous system with septic tank.
Walk into any farmers house and you will find running water (cold and hot), proper bathroom facilities and toilets that flush.
@zoom_copter66 is from rural areas, he can prove you that I’m telling you the truth about American rural areas.

In Russia things are quite different ;) You know why? Because the system costs real money, not some cartoons which Russia uses for pretty much anything these days.

The absolute majority of the debt is to ourselves.
    Means nothing.
If absence of debt is so important then countries like Democratic Republic of Congo, Brunei, Belarus and others should be the world economic leaders. Their manufacturing and service output should be through the roof!

Of course, the king gets to pick and choose any degrees he wants. Brezhnev loved medals, Pootin likes college degrees.
The real degree that he possesses is a law degree, just like pretty much any other lawmaker.

I read the whole damn article.
I read the whole damn thing. It says that 6% of households in the country don't have sewer systems. Listen jackass, my own parents aren't hooked up to a centralized sewer system, just like 60 million more Americans. Have you ever used an outhouse? I have, the one my grandparents had....up until the 1980's. So what? Are my parents as dirty as all those filthy Russians? You can sell your crap somewhere else. There are more rural households in the U.S. than Russia BY FAR, as most of Russia's population is concentrated in large cities. Rural villages in Russia are certainly poor, much like Appalachia here. I am not saying otherwise.

If Russia were one of the states of the U.S., it would rank fifth among the 50 states in terms of GDP.

Yep....we've had indoor plumbing/showers/outdoor faucets since long before I saw light of day here.

Even the 4 legged ladies are well looked after around here with automatic watering bowls....

We don't need to bury water lines too deep in the US in many places since our frost lines are shallow. Mines roughly 2.5 ft. Further south you get the more shallow.

In Russia permafrost doesn't allow it....and where you can, you need to sink water lines 8-10 ft to escape frost.

That wouldn't reflect though the standard of living if rent, food, and everything else was much cheaper in that state. In other words if you could buy a house for $100,000 that would cost $500,000 in another state, it would still be the same house wouldn't it?

The same for food. If you could pack your refrigerator with $100 worth of food, while in another state it would cost $300 it would still be the same amount of food wouldn't it? Would it matter then if your wage was much lower than in other states?

Russia deliberately keeps the Ruble low so that it's products could be more competitive on the world market. This low value of the Ruble keeps their money from leaving the country, since it makes foreign goods too expensive for the Russian people. In the meantime foreigners prefer Russian goods since their prices are more competitive, so that foreign money keeps coming into Russia and that in turn builds up their economy

This of course freaks out Washington, and so they try to stop it with sanctions, but if they hadn't sanctioned in the first place Russia wouldn't have built up its industries, and especially its agriculture, nor would the Ruble have dropped in value.

Today Russia is beating out the US and Canada in grain production, arms industry, nuclear energy as well as with gas and other natural products. To combat this, Washington resorts to bullying, threats and sanctions to get nations to buy our goods.

The US was referred to as competitors by Putin in the past and not as enemies, but that's changed now thanks to our actions towards Russia. Trump tried to normalize relations, but the Democrats with their fake 'collusion' accusations have hindered him and thrown us in a Cold War.

    Enjoy your future!

Our summer home when I was young and which I lived in later on afterwards for years had a septic tank and a well, and it was only 30 miles from NYC. He just wants to undermine Russia.

There's an embedded hatred there that probably came down for generations, but not because Russia did anything to them. But because the Russians wouldn't allow them to take over their country and grab their wealth.

Why don't they just give it up - but they won't.

So silly. If we had wanted Russia's wealth and were the types to muscle our way in and take it, we could have done it a long time ago. We could have let Patton have his way and liberate Moscow from the Bolsheviks :D

Russia occupies a lot of minds right now, but then they've also been attacking us in ways that China has not. Had China gotten involved in the 2016 election the way Russia had, I'm thinking a lot more people would be thinking about and discussing China right now. As it is, they are more of a cyber and conventional military threat, whereas Russia has been hitting us with their "active measures." If they want to do that, well, they deserve the attention that comes with it.

People live differently in other parts of the world. The Russians live mostly in apartments, yet they have their dachas to go to and enjoy the fresh air. The rich have big ones, and the others have small ones where they can grow their own vegetables.

I know in Greece most people work in Athens, and unless they're wealthy they live in small apartments. They don't see Athens as being their home though. Their home is where they originated from, and that's where they put their money and pride.

I love this; 'whatever we do, accuse Russia of doing' propaganda.

Everyone that follows world events knows that Russia never initiates, and has always reacted defensively. So tell me, what's your intent? Do you want us to attack Russia?
