See, Russia invaded Ukraine. Ukrainians are fighting Russia because Russia invaded their country. The reason Ukrainians are fighting is because Russia invaded.

What happens, is, when a country invades another country, the people who live there fight the country that invaded. Russia invaded Ukraine. That is how this started.

BTW here is the truth about the Putinist lie that some how young kids are being sent to fight in Ukraine. They are not at least noth by Ukraine. 16 year old males do have to register for the draft but they are not eligible to be drafted until they are 18 and have completed high school. They can still avoid draft if they attend college or vocational training. 17 year olds who have dropped out of high school can volunteer for the military but only if they have both of their parents agree to allow them to do so. Everyone completes basic training and the Ukrainian version of A.I.T. for their military job.

Russia does send underaged and elderly men to the front without any training what so ever nor do they get even basic military gear such as combat boots.

Again though, do you have any examples of Russia-based media reporting on difficulties of Russian troops on the front line and their personal complaints about their leaders choices and actions? Even if you believe Russia is overall winning the war, you can't deny that there have been individual bad situations for Russian troops at various times and places since the invasion. It's fine if it's in Russian (assuming you read Russian).

Well that doesn't sound very critical of the Russia actions, it sounds like implicit support of the invasion and an argument to go to much, much further in prosecuting it. It could also be convenient for Russian leaders who would be able to sell slightly less extreme escalations to the Russian people as being comparatively moderate. Maybe you're not as good at identifying propaganda as you'd like to believe.

Christ, the US spent like 15 years in Afghanistan and ended up losing to the Taliban. Damn near the same in Vietnam and lost to the locals. Russia could not prevail in Afghanistan either. Moral of the story--it's really tough to be an army of occupation in a land where the locals hate your guts.

Russia will prevail in Ukraine and NATO will demonstrate how useless an organization it is.
