Today is the eighth anniversary of the UN prediction that we had only eight years to stop "global warming". Happy anniversary!! http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2007/may/05/climatechange.climatechangeenvironment

And its almost seven years since Al Gore said the arctic could be ice free by now. Happy anniversary!! :roll:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2738653/Stunning-satellite-images-summer-ice-cap-thicker-covers-1-7million-square-kilometres-MORE-2-years-ago-despite-Al-Gore-s-prediction-ICE-FREE-now.html

For a compendium of predictions of climate diasters caused by the mythical "global warming" on which the science is settled but for some reason never seem to actually, you know, happen, start here and scroll down. http://pjmedia.com/eddriscoll/category/the-final-countdown/

I particularly like the story about the climate scientists going to the antarctic to study the disappearing ice cap getting trapped in an expanding ice field. :icon_jawdrop:

    Ha.

Nothing but a giant scam to take energy sector profits out of Republican hands and put them in Democrat hands.

Except the IPCC never made any such prediction.

Which is why the original article from the Guardian doesn't actually say that.

Why do you pay so much attention to Al Gore?

Have you actually read any of the IPCC reports yourself, or do you trust the Daily Mail, or The Sun or Hustler for all your information needs?

So, was the article in the first link published in 2007 that said this wrong?:
    Did they not say this?
Al Gore won a Pulitzer prize, didn't he? His fictional movie on the "global warming" hoax was required viewing in quite a few schools as if it were actually based on fact rather than a political propaganda film.

IPCC reports? You mean the ones that have over time now been proven consistently wrong as to their predictions? They keep predicting disasters that don't happen. When do folks wake up and recognize they are like fortune tellers staring into crystal balls and scamming the rubes?

That is Al Gore won Academy Awards for his fictional movie, not a Pulitzer.

A fine goalpost shift, something that all deniers learn to do well.

Your original claim was "8 years to stop global warming". When called on that, you backpedaled to "8 years to reduce global warming". But given the ongoing warming, the IPCC prediction is clearly correct in any case. Emissions were not reduced much, and the warming kept going.

It was a mostly accurate movie with a few mistakes.

In any case, Gore Rule invoked. Whoever brings up Al Gore first immediately forfeits the discussion for their own side. Those who can talk about the science, do. Those who can't talk about the science try to deflect discussion by railing about whatever political figure their cult wants them to demonize.

If all the science didn't contradict your cult's strange religious dogma, you wouldn't have to trot out all these bizarre conspiracy theories, or run from the data by cherrypicking meaningless nonsense. Denialism is literally nothing but a conspiracy cult now.

If you follow the standard denier pattern, this is where you now post some faked graphs and cherrypicked quotes that you copied from a cult website. Please proceed. How sweet, fresh meat.

You should try reading the science instead of calling people names for partisan purposes. You might learn something.

Climate Scientist walks into a bar, says, “A pint of…

    bitter”
    Barman: “Why the long pause?”

Ha, there are no Republican energy sector profits without massive subsidies, depletion allowances, invasions and the omnipresent 6th Fleet - all paid for by MOI. Talk about Republican welfare queens, eh?

Well, Mamooth never presents any science, just a display of true belief based on alarmism.

    Well let's see.
    1. Most of the needed technology exists? True.
    2. Government must act quickly? True.
    3. Delays will make the problem more difficult and more expensive? True.

So I don't see what you're complaining about.

    No, he didn't.

Yet oddly enough, you cannot point to a single error in that film. Hmmmmm ...

"Proven"? By whom? In what peer-reviewed study? Citation, please.

Please cite the exact predicted disaster in the IPCC report that didn't happen. We would all love to see it.

What's that? You can't? Gee ... maybe somebody else has been lying to you.

Sure it will. Only those bottom-of-the-barrel science deniers -- the ones even Anthony Watts dismisses as fruitcakes -- who deny CO2 causes global warming, would say otherwise.

But that's not you, is it, Hoose?

Ahh, another talking point expert. Please tell us what those "subsidies" are so we can all be informed. Do you even know what depletion allowances are?

I guess those gas wells drilled in my neighborhood, about half a mile away from which I receive nice royalty checks and a pretty comfortable lease bonus don't count as profits, do they? Haven't seen the sixth fleet here in North Texas lately. My wife's cousins in West Texas who are getting some nice royalties from oil wells drilled on their ranches and would like to take a nice cruise......sooooo.

Oh My. Another ignorant, ranting Republican who denies science. Why is Conservation of Energy such a difficult concept for the right-wing to grasp? And why is it only the wingnuts who so adamantly refuse to accept the obvious?

The only myth here is the myth that solving the problem will impoverish anyone. British Columbia has been doing economically better than the rest of Canada since they introduced their revenue-neutral carbon tax. I fail to understand why Republicans are so unalterably opposed to getting a bigger tax refund, and how that's going to impoverish you. Maybe you can explain it for us.

I expect evidence for every claim you make, or I will disregard it entirely as the political tripe which it otherwise is. And since you clearly have no such evidence, your claim that IPCC reports have been consistently proven wrong, unsupported by the tiniest shred of actual evidence (even after being challeneged to provide it), is nothing but politically motivated junk.

What a hoot. The guy with zero evidence, who takes whatever the Rush tells him to believe on faith, calling out the guy with all the evidence on his side as religious. Welcome to the bizzaro world of illogic in Denierstan.

Time for the tackle was up before we even saw this as something to debate....current atmospheric levels of greenhouse gasses will not even be truly felt for a god 50 years. No reason to bother even trying anymore folks, just try to prepare for the inevitable...whatever that ends up being.
