Is it mandatory to join a labour union in the US?
I know that there are some crazy union rules in the US which I experienced when I arranged for my former boss to go to a trade show in Miami.

It depends in which state you live.

More and more states are enacting Open Shop laws that mean one does not need to become a union member in order to get and keep a job.

Goofy unions. We built some panels in a non-union shop in Indiana and shipped them to St. Louis and the union entered a grievance and we had to pay the union to disassemble the panels and put them back together.
