I recently received an email attacking a political party, their candidate, and their supporters. (One of many I get from both sides.) The email started by saying “I wonder if any of you that I send this to will actually have the guts to read this. My guess is that you'll read about 10% of it and the mirror effect will be too much for you to bare.”

Lack of guts doesn’t seem to be an issue these days. People are quick to insult and verbally attack those who disagree with them. They seem to have the guts to call each other names and have even resorted to violence.

It is not guts Americans are lacking; it is character. Every time someone posts another meme or sends an email full of insults for the other side, they are part of the problem. What are the chances of making progress when people turn fellow Americans into their enemies? It is like when a child says what they want to say, and then puts their fingers in their ears… “La la la la” No one is listening to each other and the messages are not worth listening to.

Here’s a challenge: Go to any political forum and find a polite discussion.

I am disappointed in our choices for president, but I am even more disappointed in my fellow Americans.

The high road doesn’t seem to get much traffic these days.

Have we become the United States of (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s?
