You don't have to be an economist to think this through.

Aggregate demand is comprised of consumer spending (about 70%), business spending, government spending, and exports less imports. There's a huge hole in consumer spending because a lot of people are unemployed, others are afraid they may lose their jobs or have reduced hours, and more are afraid because of the virus to go out shopping, visit a restaurant, bar, etc. Still more are holding off spending in areas like travel in the hope future years will see better opportunities. Businesses are spending less for plant and equipment to conserve cash and as a response to reduced consumer and business demand.

If government doesn't step up with spending of its own, and direct help to unemployed workers and business, we're going to have a steep downturn. We're looking into the economic abyss and Republicans are holding down government spending at exactly the wrong time. This looks more and more like a rerun on the period 1930-33.

We didn't recover fully from the Great Depression until WW2. Why? Because Democrats employed too many people in unproductive make work jobs.

Democrats are talking about redistributing income through government spending and taxing, not collectivizing production. If you stop government from temporary spending now and we have a depression, you could bring about real socialism as people lose faith in capitalism.

I was an economist. Am I wasting time warning you about the potential economic disaster? Probably.

 

You don't have to spend half your life in University to understand that if there is no work there is a recession/depression. You also don't need a masters in political science to see that what you describe is what the DNC is working toward and they don't care how much damage they do if they can realize their ultimate goal.
