“I’ll choose the best people for my administration!”

... and, lest we forget, Walter Shraub, Hope Hicks, Michael Short, Michael Dubke, Mark Green, Katie Walsh, Omarosa Manigault, Todd Ricketts, Philip Bilden, Gerrit Lansing, Robin Townley, Vincent Viola, Caroline Wiles, etc., etc., etc. ...

Okay, Throttlebottom Beauregard is still taking the abuse like a long-suffering battered wife, and Pruitt and a few others may abscond before he's dumped or finds a shred of self-respect, but Pissy Tweet Boy goes through cabinet secretaries and senior administrative personnel as if they were bimbos and trophy wives!

Maybe, Slumlord Kishner and the Junior should just load up the van at the local day labour pool every morning - as long as they last.

I'm waiting for the Trump cult to spin to the volatile fickleness of their messiah's regime as ultimate democracy.

Eventually, every Americans will have served in his administration - whether they want to or not!

My guess is that Scott "I never met a noxious emission I didn't like" Pruitt is the next to suffer Trumpian ignominy.

Walter Schaub, former director of the Office of Government Ethics:

"The idea that it's perfectly normal in this town to get a prime location and this house really is that, its right next to the House, Senate office building on Capitol Hill, for $50 a night and the owner will hold the house open for you for any night that you don’t use it, he won’t rent it to anyone else but you only pay for the night’s you actually stay there at well below market rate. There’s no doubt that this is a gift and that this is below market rate and so the EPA’s justification doesn’t wash."
Pruitt is already mounting his offensive on the fake news sites and hiding from the real media:

Pruitt made his first specific comments on the reports of his rental in a condo co-owned by a D.C. lobbyist in in-person interviews with two conservative news sites: The Daily Signal, which is connected to the Heritage Foundation — a conservative think tank — and the Washington Examiner on Tuesday. He also filmed an interview with Fox News, which aired part of the interview on Wednesday.

He declined to take questions from other outlets, including ABC News' Mary Bruce, at an event to announce a review of the fuel efficiency standard on Tuesday.

In the wake of reporting about Pruitt's living arrangements, spending on security and questions about his travel, multiple members of Congress — including two Republicans — have called for Pruitt to resign.

The White House has launched a formal inquiry into Pruitt's living situation. Press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed that President Donald Trump and White House chief of staff John Kelly spoke to Pruitt earlier this week.

Unlike Obama administration officials and cabinet members, Trump's have a life and career to return to. (with the notable exception, Hillary's fictional novel and blame tour) :roflol:

Oh great, another lets focus on something other than policy, like making administrative changes to suit the needs of the administration. If anyone is paying attention, they'll notice you folks don't talk policy, because you have nothing to offer...

Let go. Wrench yourself away. Don't fixate on the past. It is not a refuge from the present.

    Thank you.

The wealth of surrealistic material that Trumpery affords deserves to be celebrated.

If you don't get the joke, you're part of it.

We are living at a time that will, one hopes, afford greater mirth than horror to future generations. Enough to compensate for the bloated national debt we'll bequeath, the strident ululations of the lynch mob hellbent on stringing up the better angels of our nature, and the inevitable devolution of the republic and its values, who can say?

Progress will happen. The enlightened will vanquish the forces of darkness.

LOL, to call Trump and his administration 'unstable' is an understatement of epic proportions. This clown show, run by the buffoon-in-chief, will go down in history as the very worst...ever....by a mile. Now it's all about surviving the imbecile.....this will all be behind us some day.

The seemingly endless Dead Men Walking cavalcade of Trump's "best people" boasts a mortality rate that make mayflies appear as immortals.

The Environmental Protection Agency reimbursed the owner of Scott Pruitt’s rented Capitol Hill condo for the cost of a busted door.

The condo, permanently available to Pruitt and his family members at $50 per night, a pittance compared to prevailing rates, is in the name of the spouse of the chairman of a lobbying firm retained by an energy company that had its expansion plan approved by Pruitt's agency during his stay.

Pruitt’s protective detail broke down the door because they could not reach him. He claimed he was napping.

(In 1965, an episode of the Dick Van Dyke Show featured Rob Petrie being arrested for assaulting an elderly woman in a bar. His unfortunate alibi was that he was at a showing of "The Guns of Navarone" at a drive-in movie, but could not recount the plot because he had slept through it.)
The repair cost, $2,460, was assessed to the taxpayer, the EPA reimbursing the condo association for the cost of Pruitt's rude awakening.

    It's actually worse than that.

It was all just another political stunt from Trump. Wall Street just had its worst month in 17 years and worst quarter in two years because Trump wanted to be the center of attention. He created a major economic crisis then moved on to create two more crises, the non-withdrawal from Syria and sending the National Guard to our southern border.

We learned from NBC yesterday that Trump's tariffs aimed at China, if enacted, will not take effect for six months. Late on Wednesday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said it would take "a couple months" for tariffs to get implemented following a review process. The tariffs were announced before a review process? Who is running this show? Mr. Magoo? That's nuts.

Stocks were higher again on Thursday, sending the Dow up more than 300 points and extending a stunning comeback. On Wednesday, the Dow reversed a 510-point loss shortly after the open to finish higher by 230 points.

What happened? CNN reports, "Experts said that investors seem to be less concerned about the tit-for-tat tariffs that China and the United States are threatening to volley at each other. It may all be for show."

"The US and China are the two toughest kids in the playground, but they really don't want to fight," said JJ Kinahan, chief market strategist with TD Ameritrade.

Investors were also reassured by Larry Kudlow, the new director of the White House National Economic Council, who also characterized the tariffs as just proposals.

He reiterated that point on Thursday, telling reporters there is "nothing around the corner" regarding any concrete tariff plans.

"The history of the Trump administration is make a big bold statement, add some craziness and then come up with a bold, pragmatic solution," Kinahan said.

The problem is, there are never any solutions. Just more problems -- and chaos -- created by this President.

In other words, Trump is backing down again. He knows the tariffs were extremely stupid, but he created this crisis anyway because that was what the media would talk about. Trump achieved two purposes. He was the center of attention for four weeks -- even if it was because he was innately stupid -- and there was less talk about the Mueller investigation.

I am embarrassed. I should have known.

One envisions a long, long, seedy bar down a bleak alley not far from the White House in which Flynn, Bannon, Price, Spicer, Tillerson, McMaster, Scaramucci, Priebus, Cohen, and so, so many others barely look up from their Southern Comfort as Pruitt skulks in, everyone shifting down a seat to make room, and ready to do so soon again for Beuregard Sessions or whomever.

The growing ranks of Trumped Men are not a pretty sight.

We got Trump and his style is unlike previous presidents but he is looking out for the country. On the other hand Hillary could have been elected and we now see what a fruitcake she is when out on her own. The right man is in the office at this time.

    Indeed we did.

Pruitt is the latest of the P-Grabber's seemingly endless supply of "best people" designated for the bum's rush.

Are you saying Obama's appointees were so honest that none were fired or demoted in 8 years ? Or did they all have free reign to do as they pleased , unchecked?

Yes, "Go Trump!!!" is a popular sentiment, but going the way of his "best people" triggers the ascension of the Ayatollah eager to replace the tweeting fool. It may be preferable to have the putrid carcass of the Mar-a-Lago Lardass perfuming the zephyrs until 2020.

Meanwhile, Slumlord Kushner would have had the Pollution Czar out on the street if he had stiffed him on his lobbyist "gift" rent.

I think that if you carefully review the thread you will find that I have not attempted to digress onto any POTUS of yore, from Washington on down.

    Meanwhile, back to the timely:

    “I’ll choose the best people
    for my administration!”

    Unwanted squatters included!

This causes the question to arise, when Pruitt is given the continually-resonating
    trump
    ®
gong, will he refuse to leave his
    office?

Trump decided he had not done enough damage to American corporations on Wall Street in the last quarter, the worst in two years. He decided he had not done enough damage to Americans' savings (have you looked at your 401K lately?) He decided he had not done enough damage to his party's chances in November (nearly all the gains from tax reform are wiped out). Trump hated the idea of Larry Kudlow, his new economics chief, trying to ease tensions on Wall Street and across the land. Kudlow was stealing the show with the good news. Can't have that.

So, Trump let it be know that he is considering and additional $100B in tariffs against China. "In light of China's unfair retaliation, I have instructed the [United States Trade Representative] to consider whether $100 billion of additional tariffs would be appropriate." The DOW plunged another 572 points.

One Republican spoke out, only one. Nothing from McConnell or Ryan ... again. Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse called the move "the dumbest possible way to do this." "Hopefully the President is just blowing off steam again but, if he's even half-serious, this is nuts," he said in a statement.

The Republican oriented National Retail Federation, an industry group, said in a statement that while it agreed on the need to address China's unfair trade practices, "these tit-for-tat trade actions could ... make it harder for Americans across the country to afford everyday products and basic necessities."

Trump took the pie-in-the- sky approach to the problem. "I'm not saying there won’t be a little pain," Trump said on WABC radio in New York. "So we may take a hit, and you know what, ultimately we're going to be much stronger for it, but it's something we ought to do." I will refer you to my first para. Trump seems to live in his own little world.

Trump apparently does not know the U.S. economy is the third largest. These figures were updated in March 2018. In 2017, China was the world's largest economy for the third year in a row. It produced $23.1 trillion in economic output according to World Factbook The European Union was in second place, generating $19.9 trillion. Together, China and the EU generate 33.9 percent of the world's economic output of $127 trillion. The United States remained at third place, producing $19.4 trillion. https://www.thebalance.com/world-s-largest-economy-3306044

Moreover, it is not Trump vs. China. It is Trump vs. the rest of the world. The Washington Post reports, Trump's "latest salvo, moving two of the world’s largest economies closer to an open brawl, is certain to spook U.S. allies in Europe and Japan as well as American business leaders, who are desperate for a negotiated resolution of the dispute." Our friendly trading partners want no part of the trade wars sparked by Trump's tariffs, and they will do anything to stop it ... anything.

The largest single holder of U.S. government debt was China, with 21% of all foreign-held U.S. Treasury securities.

Trump does not know that he is hardly in a good bargaining position.

His base is thrilled with all this. No one knows why.

    Including his base.

When will trump be satisfied by the damage he has done? Does he lack the ability to be President? It would seem so. Unfortunately, the Republican leadership remains totally silent.

Trump nailed it when he boasted that his goons would not care if he shot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue.

Their mindless devotion is also soulless.

He can shift his shiftless position on anything 180 degrees, and the bobble heads won't miss a beat.
