Well, another patriotic liberal honoring our soldiers. This is the kind of treatment soldiers like me got when we came back from Vietnam.

US Airways has apologized after a flight attendant reportedly refused to hang an Army Ranger's uniform jacket in the aircraft's closet.

WSOC-TV reported that First Sgt. Albert Marle was boarding US Airways Flight 1930 between Portland, Ore. and Charlotte Thursday when he asked the attendant if she could hang up his jacket to keep it from wrinkling. The flight attendant refused, claiming that the closet was for first-class passengers only.

Another patriotic liberal? What evidence do you have? The closet is for First Class passengers only. Those are the rules. Nothing to do with patriotism or respect for the military. He should have flown American -- they will upgrade uniformed service personnel if space available. Why is this guy whining that the FA wouldn't break the rules and hang his jacket?

Thank you for your service and I'm sorry you got spit on coming back from Vietnam (my dad did too). But this is not even close to that...

I usually get upgraded when I fly because I have elite status (I fly too much). When I sit in First Class, the FA takes my jacket (I'm usually in a suit). When I don't get the upgrade, I hook my jacket on the hook above the tray table. No big deal. Certainly nothing to turn into a news story...

Figures you'd attempt to turn it into a partisan discussion.

What does this have to do with liberals or political ideology?

There was a first class passenger willing to give up his seat for the soldier and the flight attendant would let that happen. And can you imagine anyone other than a liberal acting like this towards a US soldier?

    - - - Updated - - -

Yes, unlike you Palin haters. It is partisan because it is liberals who despise the military. Find me one conservative that has ever burned an American flag

Wow, you'd think the guy was asking for a seat in the first class section. But a freaking closet?! Dude, you must be a hater of the military if you're going to defend an airline's policy on a first class closet.

I believe in playing by the rules. I have myself been denied closet space for my jacket on many airplanes.

Although the majority of people are willing to give up their seat in first class, buy a drink, buy dinner, etc for the military there is nothing that says they HAVE to. Policy is policy and the military isn't exempt from that just because they are in the military. Although in this particular case it doesn't seem like it was anywhere near an unreasonable request and unless the first class closet was full I believe he should have been accommodated. Now if the guy would have walked on the plane and requested a first class seat just for wearing his uniform or asked for free drinks or something then it would have been different.

Hats off to those who tried to give him their seat though. Always great to see things like that.

Lol...Poor billy. Your pathologically partisan flamebait shot down before post number 10 and now you're reduced to puerile posturing about Palin and shoe sizes.

Soldiers like him are first class passengers IMO, sad they couldn't squeeze one more jacket into the rack.

There is no policy on US Airways for this.

I disagree with the lead flight attendant, however, I do not believe this is as wide spread as some conservatives believe. In fact, I think it is the exception rather than the rule and I am someone who flies on a regular basis.

However, another flight attendant hung up the jacket.

I believe this is being blown way out of proportion by the OP. For starters, according to the story, it was the lead flight attendant who was refusing the request. Second, the first class passenger, Cliff Autrey, did intervene and the lead flight attendant refused that request. That one I can understand why because of the flight manifest was already given to the flight crew and to the FAA liason. Chianging the manifest at that late date is more trouble than it is worth sometimes.

That being said, this incident is not the norm. For most military I have seen at the airport, they are usually dressed in their BDU's, not a class A uniform as the Top sergeant was.. I ud understand the top sergeant's request and disagree with the lead flight attendant unless there was no room to hang the jacket. However, US Airways does not have a policy on this type of request and the situation should have been dealt with in a better manner.

How did he try to intervene? Did he try to swap seats with the Soldier or something?

From the article, I don't think it was the Ranger who complained. He merely asked if his jacket could be hung in a closet. He was not asking for favors. It was a first class passenger who said that the stewardess was rude. Why couldn't she just hang it up? Was she lazy? Was she anti military? Was she just a jerk? Was she having a bad day? I am glad that someone complained on behalf of the soldier.

    That sounds like horrible logic.

That at least makes some sense if a highly partisan sense.

Will the other dummies running airlines learn anything from this incident?

They should put out a bulletin reminding the personnel how they are expected to treat such cases in the future. Options are: 1) Smile and do as requested.
    2) Frown and tell the person to get bent.

The fact that incidents such as this makes the news indicate that a couple of highly paid V.P.s aren't doing their jobs. They need to be fired.

I didn't know patriotism supercedes airline rules. The attendant probably didn't either.

The first class passenger tried to swap seats with the soldier in an effort to solve the dilemma. At least, that is what the story reported on the link that I posted.

Hmmm, and the flight attendants didn't allow that or did the Soldier decline the offer? I've never heard of a policy stating people couldn't swap seats.
