Please listen to this speech by Stan Grant at the IQ2 racism debate...Then turn your thoughts toward the indigenous people of America, that which is my heritage.

    This is a moving speech.

Australia has a very violent history especially when one considers the treatment of its indigenous people. Case in point, the eradication of the entire Aboriginal population of Tasmania.

I know it's off topic, but sometimes I wish the U.S., Canada, and Australia were on our own continent by ourselves.

Adding Australia and dropping Mexico would be a net gain.

If the US truly wanted to keep Mexicans out, it could. I believe there is some serious government corruption to account for it.

What country that's been around a while doesn't have a violent past?

It is my heritage too, but I don't lament people today for something that happened a century and more ago to people I never knew. It is rather pointless by my measure. Yes we should be aware of such things as to try to avoid them in the future, but I don't consider myself a second-class citizen at all because of the bad in the past. If anything, I probably benefit some because I tan really easy and really dark and that is something that appeals to people.

A little non political correct comments on the Native Americans, which in my day were known as American Indians.

I was on a forum and a poster from the Middle West said his grandfather and some others became so upset listening to a man's screams as he was being tortured each night, that they killed all the Indians. So contrary to political correctness, most Indian tribes were savages.

The European invasion of the Americas was not like the invasions in Europe, where the conquerors were always barbarians, and less advanced than the people they conquered. It was quite the opposite. In the America's, it was the Europeans who were the conquerors, and they were technically more advanced. These people needed the land for farming, something which could feed a great deal of people, rather than having it used for hunting..which could not.

Since many of those who came were men, they did marry native women so there were a lot of mix breeds. ..and they were able to assimilate more readily. They were also able to fight off the diseases which decimated most of the native population. The Indians who did not want to assimilate, were given their own reservations to live on.

As for the Mexicans, they are not Spanish, they are Native Americans from the Southwest of the US, and from Mexico...so in a way you can say they are reclaiming their land.

"Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat" and so we see the US the forefront of the enablers of the colonisation of Palestine and the removal of all hope ever of rights for self determination of the indigenous people there and the turmoil this has caused in the region - something which was predicted by your own State Department when you began this journey.

Most have a violent side to them its just that European colonialists have a kind of overt sadistic nature where they actually sort to export this

The other side of the world seems a lot more war torn and violent than this side. We are utterly oblivious regarding war. Only soldiers have any clue. I'm thankful an ocean separates us. I'll bet Australia feels similarly.

thats why i said we export it. a dog pees on another territory preferably always.

the point im making is we all have a violent nature but only european colonialist are so proud of theirs that they actively exported it to every continent on a horrific scale never seen before. war, violence, weaponry and oppression seems to be an active ingredient wherever they travel. we need to look inside ourselves and recognize this destructive nature that weve been programmed to celebrate from a very young age.

I can't imagine frequent war in my backyard. Funny thing is how war hungry and violent they call us when there has been very little war here or fighting over territory.
I think they are probably misled by media. American media has convinced us the middle east is crazy and Muslims are a threatening cancer. I admit I have never met a Muslim or been around many, know nothing of the middle east and fully aware my emotions have taken my objectivity, I hate Arabs and Muslims.

I don't think violence is inherent much at all. But perceived threats bring out more survival behavior that seldom surfaces when we are comfortable and feel safe. Famine, fear, impending disaster, exposure to the elements will quickly make our more primal qualities evident.
Europe was the world power for a long time. I don't believe they are proud of any blemish on history. But they sure love to point out American faults. Americans aren't too concerned with what lies on the other side of the globe. We are largely oblivious to it. I get a chuckle out of posters discussing matters they are completely ignorant of. Non Americans know nothing about US race relations. They know nothing about our healthcare situation. Nothing about the impact Mexicans have here. Nothing about our compassion and charity, nothing about the middle class, nothing about the causes of wealth disparity, nothing about our idealism, innovation, and ingenuity. And most Americans are just as ignorant of Europeans.
Why we make so many assumptions and ask so few questions is an enigma to me.

you seem to think america are like china where nobody knows anything about them lol. american culture is everywhere, i listen to rap, lots of it, for 20 years, they tell me all i need to know about race relations which is why america tries in vain to censor it. america is perceived as babylon by the hip hop community. that says alot about america.
