Senate Votes to End Aid for Yemen Fight Over Khashoggi Killing and Saudis’ War Aims https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/13/...aking-news&nlid=55065696ing-news&ref=headline Good - Trump's pandering to the prince is embarrassing., and not very ethical.
I don't think Obama ever really understood how to greet leaders. At least he knew he wasn't their equal. What an embarrassing pile of donkey crap.
Well... do you think that the situation was handled as well as it could have been?? Or does the US now condone butchering humans?? We have all seen Trump's callous indifference in situations like this...... as all that matters to him is contracts and money Humans are dispensable . (as we have seen & continue to see.
Senate votes to condemn Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as responsible for killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi https://www.washingtonpost.com/powe...-national--alert-world--alert-politics&wpmk=1 Good Nice to see that at least the senate is operating with some reason.
Saudi Arabia has been murdering people for years, tens of thousands of them, and only now when they kill a member of the elite journalist class does anyone care.
Apart from the fact that there are still Americans with reason and without hypocrisy existing ... at least in the Senate ... But question, who gave Trump a slap now? The Republican-dominated Senate ... or the Democrat-dominated Congress? Sometimes the media talk about the Senate, then again about Congress ... who and what now? Strange ... Here in the forum was the statement that the US was not dependent on the oil of the Saudis, because the US had enough own oil?
Extremely rare to see, but yes, it's a good thing. The US is notorious for its absence of moral direction.
Oh ... why drive the M1A2 tank and fly the F-15 ... but now absolutely want the Leopard 2 tank and the Typhoon. At least they don't get the Leopard 2, because Russia is a safer supplier for gas as they ever can be ... Good to know Mr. Canell
Support the legitimate government of Yemen, not the rebels who bombed the US Embassy there. House and the President are not going along for the ride. The senate will not prevail in their grandstanding. A US Embassy has some importance. A non-citizen stupid enough to walk into the lion's den in a foreign country -- not much importance.
ROFL!!! Sorry dude, but do you have any clue of anything here? The attack on the US Embassy was perpetrated by an Al Qaeda faction - Islamic Jihad in Yemen - and this group is purely Sunitic in Islamic beliefs! The Houthi rebels, who are the topic and who fight against the government and are also being fought by Saudi Arabia, etc., are again all Shiite and are supported by Iran and their enemy is also the scum "Islamic Jihad in Yemen", not just the Saudia and the Government!
It human nature that it matter more when it is a journalist working for a US firm who is the father of US citizens. Among other things that killing was a direct insult to the US. As history had shown it was never wise to killed Romans for example.
Oh, now we are going to take the moral high ground? Do you have any idea how many countries we deal with imprison, murder and torture their citizens? I don't see you crying about China right now. Get some perspective.
Sorry they are not legal residences of the US who are an employee of a major US news source nor are they parents of US citizens as far as I know. Short of murdering US citizens outright you can not get more of an in your face insult to the US.
Not very "ethical" ? Obviously you havn't been following US foreign policy. The war in Yemen has been going on for 3 friggen years - complete with horrible humanitarian atrocities and war crimes being committed by "our side".... complete with every humanitarian rights group on the planet and the UN screaming at the top of their lungs. All the while we have been supporting the Saudi effort and our MSM was completely silent - Most did not even know we were in a war in Yemen - fighting once again on the same side as Al Qaeda as we did in Syria since 2011. After 3 years of mass slaughter of civilians, famine due to the blockade that we are participating in and humanitarian disaster ... NOW - we want to distance ourselves. What a friggen joke.
Anyone who has any knowledge of our government and its propaganda networks would realize all this hype has nothing to do with Khashoggi's death, and more to do with Prince Salman following an independent policy. When Pres. Trump announced that they were going to buy a large amount of our military arms, the contract had not been actually signed. In the meantime they are negotiating with Russia to buy their S-400 missile defense system - and the US is adamantly against it. Since we are too dependent on Saudi Arabia, our policy makers can't break relations so they have to get rid of him. They're walking a thin line here. From what I read Saudi Arabia is competing with Russia to supply China with oil. If China asked the prince to trade in Yuan rather than the petro dollar, he might just do it and then this country is in big trouble. It would mean war. Seems that Trump is the only one that is trying to maintain relations with the Prince in the hope that it won't reach that level.
Never mind being the cradle of the Islamist extremist ideology that has been fueling these extremist groups. An ideology Saud has been exporting around the world for decades. Saud has also been arming and supporting these groups. Perhaps you have heard of a some of these groups. Taliban, Al Qaeda/Al Nusra, ISIS, Islamic Front, Al Shaabab, Boko Haram .. and so on. Far and away the # 1 state sponsor of terror in the world (as opposed to Iran) by leaps and bounds.
.[/QUOTE] Don't blame me, I support walling the region up, giving them arms, and letting them fight it out amongst themselves.
