US election: Trump tells North Carolina voters to vote twice

“US President Donald Trump has told people in the state of North Carolina to vote twice in November's election, despite this being illegal.

Mr Trump suggested voters send a postal vote and then vote in person in order to test the system.

The president has frequently made false claims that postal votes are vulnerable to significant electoral fraud.

"Let them send it in and let them go vote," he told North Carolina broadcaster WECT-TV on Wednesday.

"And if the system is as good as they say it is then obviously they won't be able to vote (in person)."“

Can’t wait to see how trump supporters defend this. He is actually encouraging citizens to break the law.

No indication he was joking. He was actually suggesting that people break the law. For any other president this story would run for days and affect his support. But I’ll bet his supporters just won’t care. Shrug it off with a “so what?”.

This is the self proclaimed “law and order” president who wants people to break the law.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if the election ends up in Biden winning and thousands of trump loyalists going to prison and losing their voting rights?

 

Sincere question: What is the responsibility of the poll workers, if what the video clip says is true - that Trump simply wants people to verify that their mail in ballot has been tabulated? If I were to go to a poll on voting day and ask if my mail in vote was tabulated - then vote in person if it hasn't - what will the poll worker do? Will they allow me to vote, after just being told that I voted by mail?

 

Depends on the state, but you could vote provisionally in most states if that happens. A judge would rule on your ballot either that same day or the next and your mail in vote would be invalidated. Most importantly you wouldn't be in legal jeopardy.

You would get a provisional ballot to fill out at the voting station or clerk's office. You wouldn't just go in to a voting booth like normal.

 

What could they do? They can't stop you from voting in person and they have no way of knowing if your vote was tabulated. You think Fred and Ethel poll worker has any idea of the status of your mail in vote?

 

A judge would rule on your ballot the same day? In what reality do you reside? There is no possible way this could happen with millions and millions of votes cast.

 

I live in the reality where on election day, there is usually a judge assigned to a handful of voting districts, hundreds of judges in each state. In a given voting district you aren't going to have millions of provisional ballots. Usually you get a few dozen.

 

Okay, then why is Trump sending them to the polls to check if their vote was tabulated?

 

He didn't say to vote twice....what a fake news headline.

He said vote by mail, and if the system works you won't be able to vote in person. is that's true?.

 

Because of the very real possibility that the post office is incompetent.

 

No. If the system works you will be allowed to vote in person but your vote will be flagged and thrown out. Then you will be prosecuted for violating election law and potentially go to jail, pay a fine, and lose your voting rights.

 

Okaaaay...but you said that poll workers couldn't verify the tabulation of the vote. So if that's true - why would he send them somewhere on a fool's errand?

 

To vote, in person.

 

It's like as soon as Trump says something, some people's brains suddenly shear off the portion that had that knowledge beforehand.

 

why wouldn't they have a record that my vote has been counted? I think it's quite scary that the left wing is telling me my vote is gonna count when I simply put it in the mailbox.....look at what Andrew Curomo did to all those voters in NYC, when he basically tossed their votes.....

I think you should go back to the video I was responding to. It is suggested that people vote by mail. Then, on election day, go to the voting station to see if your vote was tabulated. If it hasn't, then vote in person. A second time.

 

Exactly. There has to be a way to audit your cheat-by-mail vote. Otherwise, confidence in the voting process is destroyed.

 

So why wouldn't Trump simply tell people to vote in person? End of story. No need to verify their vote - no need to trust the 'cheat by mail' system.
