The Rafa crossing was open for ages, may still be - since you lot started massacring and deliberately maiming for life thousands of civilians from Gaza. Israel's siege has made it impossible for the people of Gaza to engage in anything other than black market economics. I think it is about 70% of the people who survive on food aid. Cutting off money to Gaza now must be seen as having the intent of mass starvation that is genocide and that remains whether the Egyptian border is open or closed.

 

There are far too many foreigners here shilling for Israel.

Israel is still occupying all other exits including the sky and sea and preventing them from engaging in non black market economic activity and Egypt would close the the crossing as soon as Israel asked - however with Israel's murdering and deliberately maiming of thousands of Gazans including medics, the press, women, children, the old and the disabled and athletes, each one the Israelis say deliberately chosen to be killed or maimed for life, Egypt did open the crossing so that some of them could get medical help given that Israel against International law was refusing to allow them to the West Bank for essential medical help.

Israel needs to allow a Palestinian state that is a congruous viable Palestinian State on 67 lines to get over the problems from a position that would allow Israel to continue in the form she has set. As Israel has made that impossible due to her illegal settling and stealing of Palestinian resources such as water, gas, oil, Israel must give all citizens of Gaza and the West Bank citizenship and equal rights for all. Then Israel can proceed to be a State which can hold its head up rather than perusing genocide.

Stop trying to deflect from the reality that stopping aid to Gaza has the intent of starving the people to death and hence genocide, something which you are supporting with this thread.

They chose to do it to save Israel the spending which she would have needed to do as the occupying power. Cutting off of welfare from Gaza is not what the US intends and would if the US did it without making sure that Israel took up her responsibilities as occupying power be intended genocide.

I have been reading from time to time that far from leaving the people of Gaza to die, the US wants to use them to end any hope of a two state solution. Within that would be the bribe of keeping Hamas in power which if accepted would make Hamas traitors and getting rid of Abbas.

Rafah remains open.

Egypt however is apparently annoying the US. They want a two state solution on pre 67 borders and the Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem. They have even had the nerve to say a 'solution' which does not have the agreement of the Palestinian people (as the removal of settlers from Gaza was) is not acceptable.

Well, yes, but Egypt has 91 million people and they only get half as much as Israel in US foreign aid.

 

Egypt is not the target of a handful of Islamic enemies not the mention the EU. Arguably Egypt should receive more aid from the US and EU but that aid would have to come from reshuffling the present foreign aid budget because growth in that budget is a non-starter. I suggest such a reshuffling could transfer aid going to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mexico and Black Africa to Egypt.

 

Neither is Israel a target. Israel takes more land, tears down ancient homes in the Arab Quarter of East Jerusalem and there has been no interference in over 40 years.
