Oh please. The US cannot ban countries from giving medical supplies to Iran and Venezuela as that is recognised as a Crime against Humanity. However the US can by its actions stop such countries from getting needed medical supplies by making them too poor to be able to afford them or as in what I read about Iran making countries afraid to sell them to Iran given the US's threats to sanction them if they sell to Iran.

The US's siege of Iran and Venezuela has resulted in thousands of deaths of civilians. The UN wants the US brought to the ICC for this and for potential genocide in that the US is now increasing sanctions in a time of Pandemic.

On one level I think it is so awful that people who used to believe they believed in the right of all to live, in working in a mature and humanitarian way are now becoming the worst tyrants in the world ..but on another level this is roughly what we thought prior to 9/11. There were others up to it as well but there was no blinking in our eyes at that time that the US was as bad as the worst....not its people but its 'secret state'. It's people like the people in other 'democracies' had continually worked to end this inhumane behaviour. Now if you do not agree and support this inhumane behaviour you are called a 'traitor'.

Somehow since 9/11 people have developed this belief that the US is this pure country which does nothing wrong when it has never caused so much death and with the internet its position is becoming ever more clear. Other Western countries are not immune to this either. We are in no way advanced countries if being advanced means acting with humanity. We are frequently greedy grabbers who will take what we want and to hell with others. Again not the people but the 'secret state' or possibly white nationalism.

Chavez and now Maduro are nothing but dictators draining the country dry and keeping a revolution in check by paying off the military brass. Coming soon perhaps to the US under our newly empowered "unilateral executive", but that is another discussion....

 

Where is the evidence?

They are suffering because of US sanctions. Those sanctions are there for internal unrest and meddling. The US just hates democracies who don't vote the way they demand / The Venezuelans aint free to vote on who they like to vote on. The US acts like Iran where only specific people may be voted on. Well all I was doing was agreeing with you that the US did not in fact ban any country from selling medical supplies to Venezuela, which you previously claimed.

 

I am not talking about any economic decline which they suffered due to the lowering of the price of oil prompted by Saudi Arabia and the US, That was not at all what I was talking about. Please do not answer with something different to what was being talked about. Here is what I said

Scotland suffered an economic decline with the lowering of the price of oil as well but we did not suffer sanctions and siege.

 

The people of Venezuela are wise to the US. Maybe Guido's small far right opposition group favoured him becoming temporary president for a while and handing Venezuela's resources over to the US and bringing Venezuela back to what it was like before Chavez, where the indigenous poor had no rights, no education, no health care and barely enough to eat...maybe he and his group of white supremacists are prepared to destroy their country and its people but the vast majority of the people of Venezuela are not and that is the case whether they like Maduro or not. Indeed from what I have heard had the US not ordered 'the opposition' to boycott the election so that the US could pretend it was not legit, the chances are very high that it would have been a member of the Opposition who won the last election - though not of course coming from Guido's violent group.
