We probably already have this and as usual keep it on ice until we absolutely need to admit it (think stealth bomber).

I don't see any mention about shooting down a German airliner.

I'm not interested in any weapon that destroys, only in weapons that can electronically stop the destruction and render them obsolete.

Most weapons can and will be used defensively as well as offensively, every situation defines which is employed. Electronic "Jamming" does not guarantee success or safety and thus more powerful measures must be employed.

You sound like the humans in Beneath The Planet Of The Apes. They were unwilling to defend themselves also. We don't live a Star Trek life with phasers set for STUN.

Our military weapons and the MAD principle have worked well for decades. Wait until they miniaturize it and put it in a rifle. Guns could become obsolete.

We’re not interested in your lack of interest

A lazer that could destroy incoming artillery shells from north korea aimed at Seoul could save millions of lives

And even though we dont have that technology now I hope we have it soon

    This..

Why I'm not that concerned of NK nukes, chinese, or russian for that matter..

This little lazer news is old news, like 10+ years old..
If it was me I'd have them on satellights, and I bet they do..

I bet we can zap just about anything out of the sky and zap buildings in half across the world like nothing..

The SR71 Blackbird is the fastest plane in the world. It attained its airspeed record in 1976.

TPTB would have you believe that man hasn't gone faster than that in 40 years.

If you believe that, I have a bridge for sale.

Tech experts routinely claim that the technology we know about publicly is between 20 and 50 years behind that that exists in secret labs, warehouses and military bases. Combined with anywhere from 2 to 10 TRILLION dollars 'missing' from Pentagon accounts over the decades, literally anything is possible.

That would be great providing we don't use our killing machines to kill the N. Koreans. They're humans too...

Experience has taught me though, that Washington exults in the deaths of those who didn't serve them.

Did we use Napa valley in California as a testing ground, because those fires seem suspicious to a great many people? Oh well, no one said Washington has morals anyway. Next thing you know, they'll be embedding chips in people to control their minds....

And to think this was all written 2,000 years ago. Antichrist anyone?

Note that the thread was created in 2015 but the first post we can see is #3. Presumably the first two posts were removed because the initial topic about the German airliner was fraudulent trolling. Walkty followed up with his strange habit of nercoing ancient threads with barely related copy-pastes that should have their own thread (and actual discussion commentary), successfully confusing everyone and mysteriously avoiding any moderation again.

    I am not a pacifist

If war breaks out north korean civilians will be killed

    That is unavoidable

You're reaching. Much more likely was that Napa Valley fires were a terrorist attack. Neither has been confirmed.

Lasers will completely change combat if perfected. Stealth will be that much more important because anything can be knocked out of the sky if they can be seen. All the speed in the world can't compare to the speed of light. Aircraft will be forced out of high altitudes and limited to near the ground and then vulnerable to ground attacks. Even satellites may become vulnerable, depending on the range of lasers.
