What you say is absolutely true, of course. The name of the Nazi party is no mistake or coincidence and Hitler and his cronies were open about being socialists. Furthermore, as F.A. Hayek pointed out in Chapter 12 of The Road to Serfdom, "The Socialist Roots of Nazism":

"It is significant that the most important ancestors of National Socialism [Johann Gottlieb] Fricht, [Johann Karl] Rodbertus and {Fredinand] Lassalle - are at the same time acknowledged fathers of socialism."

Same thing for the fascists in Italy. This comes straight from Benito Mussolini and his manifesto The Doctrine of Fascism:

"...in the great river of Fascism one can trace currents which had their source in Sorel, Peguy, Lagardelle of the Movement Socialists..."

While ignorant and dishonest socialists and communists would have us believe that there is only one form of socialism, there actually have been many different forms of it over the years, and National Socialism is one of them. The only major difference between the Nazis and more "conventional" socialists was that Hitler & Co. realized that de facto government control was just as effective as the direct government control that "conventional" socialists proposed. Either way, the government exercises control over the life of the nation.

Again, Mussolini:

"Anti-individualistic, the Fascist conception of life stresses the importance of the State and accepts the individual only in so far as his interests coincide with those of the State...The Fascist conception of the State is all embracing; outside of it no human or spiritual values can exist, much less have value. Thus understood, Fascism, is totalitarian, and the Fascist State - a synthesis and a unit inclusive of all values - interprets, develops, and potentates the whole life of a people."

Clearly, the fascist emphasis on anti-individualism and State control is what characterizes fascists as socialists, collectivists and Leftists.

Furthermore, labeling Nazis "right-wing" merely on account of their nationalism, racism and anti-semitism doesn't differentiate them from many of their "progressive" fellow travelers, past and present.

If they call themselves "socialist" or "Democratic" then the must be, if your reasoning is correct. And I thought Henry Ford was a capitalist.
