The American people are awakening. We have had huge protests across the nation against trump. We have had huge pro-women's rights protests across the nation. We have had protests in defense of Native American rights.

All this demand for policy favorable to people is doomed to fizzle unless we hold up an ultimate Goal for all of them. And that Goal can only be a new economic system that does not benefit from the excesses that we are protesting because the underlying problem of all of it is the capitalist system. And the only possible goal with any credibility and any realistic chance is a system in which the working class is in charge, and that is socialism. And the way to do it is with a huge mass movement to raise and elect socialists to congress and to the presidency, and then to begin the shift with legislation that favors worker owned/operated co-ops and dis-incentivizes private ownership and particularly corporate structures.

And that is precisely why we should be seeking non-fossil energy sources. One doesn't have to transport solar energy by truck or train... and it doesn't leak, lol!

Ah but corporations can't put a meter on the sun, so... once again the welfare of the corporation trumps that of the people... but wait! I thought this was a democratic society?

Ah, so then you are an environmentalist? Apparently not, if you think a messy campground is even worth mentioning in the context of a pipeline which threatens to destroy a lot of environment and poison many people.

Ah, but you're not seeking any truth here, just corporate-serving rhetorical obfuscation. Faux News and Rush have taught you well, grasshopper.

Well, given the incoherence of your comment, it's likely that you failed the basic nuance of my original post. There were a multitude of cleanliness issues in the camp prior to any disruption. The observation transcends a multitude of progressive demonstration events that clearly show us that this is not unique, and seems to be a consequence of the protests themselves and the folks who participate in them.

And now, like the park services in other cities, cities themselves public works, et al, the Corp of Engineers is now tasked with cleaning up after these children.

And another anti pipeline guy is exposed as not really anti pipeline but anti fossil fuel. Any mode of transporting oil would be protested and that's why normal people don't take you seriously when you cry environment.

I'm an old fashioned enviromentalist that actually cares about the environment instead of wasting time and effort on a hoax like AGW that soaks up all the energy and deflects from real pollution. Sometimes I even think it is a well thought out conspiracy by big pollution entities to get everyone looking at the hand with the shiny objects while the other hand does all the dirty work. As for the "dirty camp" that says a lot about the people who were there. In reality they have no respect for the environment. I camp all the time and I always leave a campsite cleaner than I found it, it's the golden rule of ethical camping.

That line is common on the Right... they pretend to be what they're against. Oh I'm the least racist person, but of course Black Lives Matter isn't needed. Oh I respect women but laws to protect them from discrimination would be socialist. And of course, we're all environmentalists, but you know, not the kind of environmentalists who worry about mass extinction and drastic ecological disruption by climate change, no I´m the sort of environmentalist who won't join with ANY of the environmentalist causes, because I'm a "real" environmentalist.

Global warming is happening, and by human agency. You see, I'm a scientist, but not one of those who says, "I believe in science, but not of course climate science, and of course not evolution, and of course no social science which proves that trickle-down economics kills people, oh no, not that sort of science."

    That stuff makes me dizzy.

Exposed? Oh like it's a subterfuge. Yes, I'm tricky, I pretend to be against this pipeline, but really I'm against the use of fossil fuels to create global warming and toxify the planet! That's just the sort of devious bastard I am!

"Normal people"? You mean oil company shills and the dupes who believe what they say?

I wonder if normal people will take it seriously when the east coast beach has moved to Richmond and crops are failing due to climate change.
