The Pentagon has banned the sale of Huawei and ZTE phones in retail stores on US military bases, citing the so-called "unacceptable risk to the department's personnel, information and mission".

“Chinese commercial technology is a vehicle for the Chinese government to spy on United States federal agencies, posing a severe national security threat,” Rep. Michael Conaway, Texas Republican, said when he introduced a bill in January that would ban the U.S. government from doing business with either company.

Poster's comment: The ban on ZTE phones is laughable as the large part of the phone is made of US components. Can't America trust its own Made-in-US components?

With regard to Rep. Michael Conaway's spying claim on Chinese commercial technology, what will be the impact on US-Sino trade if Chinese lawmakers make similar spying claims on American commercial technology?
