SNIP A Utah voter apparently has a hard time with the surname of the state’s Republican governor, Spencer Cox. The ballsy voter warned Cox, who was elected governor in 2020, that his “reluctance to change your foul, dirty, and obscene surname myself and thousands of other Utahns will be sitting in protest, not standing until you change your heinous surname to something less offensive.” ENDSNIP https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/utah-gov-spencer-cox-responds-183052408.html My first ever thread/post in Humor and Satire..... What a day!! The article is filled with a bunch of double meanings.... I posted a few above... Question is - Is this a serious complaint or is somebody (hand) jobbing the governor? I'm sure I agree with zero of what this governor stands for, but he handled this in a unique manner and I sort of give him props, although he really didn't need to respond at all, IMHO. I personally think the Gov was pranked here... You? Would have been better if the author had signed the letter ***** Galore....
I say it's a prank because of these statements: This statement implies the writer has previously made this request and the Governor refused. That's a big detail to leave out. This statement implies that the Governor took some action to have his name changed TO "Cox" as some sort of sick joke versus it being his legal surname. Therefore, the *time* to have raised this grievance was when he first ran for office or stage an anti-campaign to elect his opponent to prevent him from taking offense with his offensive legal surname. All the words in the letter are spelled correctly and it's mostly grammatically correct. Therefore, the writer has come command of professional letter writing and "Dearest" and "Love" are never used in such communications. Judgment: Total Prank P.S. And, @StillBlue's post is hilarious. Maybe we should all submit that suggestion to him. Letter writer would probably have a full and proper fit.
