"When Democrats won control of Virginia’s state government for the first time in 26 years in November 2019, they pledged to pass a series of standard gun control laws, including universal background checks and bans on military-style “assault weapons” and high-capacity ammunition magazines. The agenda was no surprise: state Democrats had run for office on a platform of gun violence prevention"

"In dozens of towns and counties, pro-gun Virginians have flooded local government meetings to oppose the new bills and to demand that their lawmakers pass “second amendment sanctuary” resolutions, which promise that local governments will not enforce state gun laws they see as unconstitutional."

"Some of these activists have warned of violence if Democrats push forward with gun control. Multiple Democratic lawmakers have reportedly received threats, including death threats. At heated public meetings across the state and in long social media comment threads, some gun rights supporters are openly discussing the possibility of civil war."

"The local pro-gun organizing in Virginia has also attracted the attention of national anti-government militias and white supremacist groups, who have “glommed on to” the grassroots movement, hoping to use it as a potential flashpoint that could lead to civil war and social breakdown"

"White supremacist “accelerationists” have seized on the standoff as the potential beginning of a civil war that will destroy the United States and allow them to build a white nation in its ruins, according to Alex Friedfeld, a researcher at the Anti-Defamation League. The story they’re telling is that the Jews and immigrants are responsible for turning Virginia blue, and they’re coming to take your guns"

"Not one of the Virginia Democrats’ proposed gun laws has been found to be unconstitutional by the US supreme court, and most of them have been repeatedly upheld by federal courts as consistent with the second amendment"

We got another Charlottesville brewing here? Another Unite the Right rallying cry? More of those "good people" ready to march in torchlights again?

Let me see if I have this straight, these legislators were elected on a gun measure platform, in other words, voters in the State elected them, they are the people's choice. None of what they are recommending is outlandish, all of it has been done elsewhere, and none of it has been found to be unConstitutional

Yet a bunch of Barney Fifes are talking civil war and issuing death threats because they are mad and think the State is going to come take away their toys. I guess consensus American institutional traditions as elections and the rule of law only apply for the right when they think it serves their interests

Suggestion to Virginia residents would be recall initiatives and get them out of office.

The elections or the results of the elections?

The irony is none of those measures have been ruled unConstitutional anywhere, in fact, with the precedent set by Scalia in the Holder case, as silly as it was, none of them probably will, and the Supreme Court just doesn't take cases because a bunch a Barney Fifes get mad

No problem, I'd support it 100%, the only requirement they all get located in Texas or one of the other gun crazy States

Standard gun control measures? Banning rifles is standard?

Why? Those states are not implementing drastic and useless gun laws.

Which would be the correct alternative, unfortunate for that route is that these people were elected on a gun reform platform, so it appears Virginia residents support them

To the left, anyone who legally owns a gun and is white is a white supremacist.

Actually, I think being white is optional.

Americans will locate them wherever the **** they want, as per the Constitution and the Virginia Constitution.

Ah, "universal background checks and bans on military-style “assault weapons” and high-capacity ammunition magazines," if you define all rifles as being one of the three mentioned I would say so, fortunately, most would not

We're not going to be using the definitions of those who want to ban firearms.

Then they should also do what most Americans do per the Constitution, accept the results of an election and follow the rule of law, neither of which incompases death threats and talk of a civil war

Universal background checks are just a State check which the state citizens have to pay for. There is already a federal background check.

Yes, rifles. The hype over labeling rifles, basically a 22, based on their scary looks is stupid.

Sorry, that is the common sense definition, in fact, the word "rifle" as being banned is nowhere in that description

    .... shall not be infringed.

Damn Leftists. Can you imagine if the Republicans take power back that they immediately create a law protecting all gun ownership and requires a 2/3 vote to undo it?

Taking power one time in decades and then immediately attacking constitutional rights tells us all how depraved these Leftist Democrats are.

No that's not a common sense definition, as "assault weapon" was a creation of gun banners, as is "high capacity" magazines.

20 and 30 round magazines are standard issue for AR-15's, as are 15,17 and 19 round handgun magazines.

This American will be abiding by the Constitution, and defending it from all enemies, foreign and domestic, who threaten the Bill of Rights.

Leftists "accepting the results of an election" gave me a good laugh though.

The 15 round Sig P226, I have an MK25. Mec-Gar makes a flush mount 18 round mag and they have a good reputation.
