https://www.yahoo.com/news/texans-v...aight-ticket-choices-163523540--election.html Texans say voting machines changing straight-ticket choices AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Some Texas voters are complaining that machines flipped their straight-ticket selections to the other party in key races during early voting, especially the much-watched Senate battle between Republican Ted Cruz and Democrat Beto O'Rourke. The secretary of state's office said Friday that there have been reported issues with Hart eSlate voting machines, which are used in around 30 percent of counties statewide and feature a wheel for selecting candidates and buttons to move from screen to screen. But it says they are caused by voters themselves and often occur when they complete and submit ballots too quickly. yup its the voters doing it How can electronic voting machines be trusted? Any electronic voting system should require paper ballot back up. How about Vote electronically. Receive a receipt of how votes were cast. Confirm accuracy by initially and place in ballot box. Then if there is a dispute, there are hard copy back up ballots and not bytes vulnerable to tampering. I agree our present voting machines are a joke.We would be better off with one main frame computer with a backup machine running in parallel in case the primary one went down. Each state could have their own region with online terminals in each polling station simultaneously creating paper back up as each voter cast their ballot.
Votes would be instantly tallied in the above system. So that result could be announced immediately after the final state closes their voting down.

Apparently the federal government is providing block grants to all states to purchase new voting machines by 2020.
If it was DeAndre Hopkins who alleged that BS don't believe him. He got high by catching high balls last night... Dolphin tamer he is...
Who is responsible for that? Bipartisan? Still wish paper back up was mandated for contested elections. The opportunity to hack or program fraudulent tallies into the electronics is too great to trust even, Kaspersky. BTW Kaspersky is the best if you did not know. Remember, "they" can hack your Prius now. The solution is to have all electronic voting machines print out a receipt, with an identification number, that could later be verified, if need be. So you would be able to see it in writing that the machine had correctly read your vote.
I agree. Every vote should be recorded like a transaction at an atm. The way we run our elections is a travesty and subject to fraud by sleazy county and state officials.
YES That is step 1. Step 2 is put that piece of paper in the paper ballot box after you confirmed it as accurate. The paper ballot box would only be opened for contested elections.
https://www.verifiedvoting.org/resources/voting-equipment/hart-intercivic/eslate/ excerpt from link: did they use these? if not why not? crazy, it has an accessible memory card slot! but hey, they supposed to tape over them
https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/alert-advisory-voting-hart-eslate-machines they were gracious enough to place signage at each voter fraud machine, it's in several languages of course, but i'll just post the american version:
Do it as if UNIVAC had never come into being. Handwritten ballot. Hand counted. No computers nowhere involved in the process.
personally, i think the 'like' system is bs and should be done away with, that said, to respond to your post above ... dilligaf!
Even then a vote you believe is cast one way can be electronically switched. The system hacked that day or programmed to do so earlier. That is why we need a paper back up in the event an election is contested. Thank YOU for the version, only. Please make that an AMERICAN "A" in "American". You may have time to edit

I have to wonder about some of the goofy systems various states try. We have a nice, simple system in Minnesota that doesn't have these issues. It is like those standardized test sheets were in school - you fill in a circle for your choice. Kind of hard to mess that up.
Voting machines are hopelessly out of date and both parties have failed to properly fund new working voting machines. Its a travesty.
ya who? wouldn't waste my tyme with any of those type pages... social media is anti-social by nature... anywho, post #13 shows that voter fraud machine with the paper back up option... would you know if those machines, in question, have it?
Unless the list and area to color uses the infamous "butterfly" lay out as Florida did. My vote my mail in the Greatest State of California requires me to fill in the box, not just mark it. Gotta stay inside the lines or
Its just weird how as a country we place our voting on such a pedestal of civic duty and spend billions on advertising for candidates but our voting infrastructure from equipment to processes is not just flawed but borderline broken. In a way its an excellent metaphor for just how stupid my country is on just about any issue you care to shake a stick at.
if it were made 'fool proof', there'd be no infighting screaming for justice... think of it like those 'easter eggs' in movies/vid games... besides, if it were a fool proof method of voting, then the 'rigged' results would be obvious, now we can't have that, can we...
