Zinn's book is so poorly referenced how do you know he wasn't making most of that up. There are some serious accusations in that so-called history book. He should have referenced it--but he didn't. I agree it always primarily depends on one's actions. Some can overcome the challenges of the accident of their birth, some can't. Some can exploit the benefits of their accident and succeed further, others can't and squander those benefits.
