Most of those civilian casualties were from carpet bombing. Not a defensible act in civilian densely populated areas, but not at all similar to machinegunning lines of them into ditches either.

I would go onto controversially say that the principle of war crimes(except attacks on civilian populations) is largely a myth. If you're firing at a soldier, you're trying to kill them. Even if you torture someone to death, it still counts as a death on the total. Us calling(most things) a war crime, is us trying to purify the act of warfare lol.

    I sourced how it is....

And bombing civilians indiscriminately. That's what Hamas does too, champ.
I also sourced that the US massacred civilians with machine guns as well.
    Nothing to hide behind.

Its not disingenuous at all. Your common military soldier might have been fighting for their country, but that's not what the SS was at all. They were created for and a branch of the Nazi party specifically. They came into being with the Nazi party and you had to sign up for them, be a loyal Nazi party member etc.

The SS is not at all the same as the regular army. Know your history.

You guys are so silly. MS 13 isn't tied to republicans or democrats. They are just a gang of lowlifes.

That's not the reason I was claiming it was disingenuous.
So your post there was a bit of strawman.

Yeah that geneva convention thing is not worth the paper its printed on.

What's a little torture, rape, murder and pillage within the "fog of war". Go nuts.

I suspect many simply wanted to fight against the Soviets.

Yeah, but you didn't join the SS to fight the Soviets. You joined the army.

Latvia was a pretty small country, it made more sense to join up with the Nazis in a larger group to fight. Also forces fighting under a Latvian banner could have brought retaliation against the small vulnerable country.
