Take after their dear leader, conservatives have taken to calling anything that offends their delicate sensibilities "hit pieces."

I can understand defending the russians, they gave you the election.

There is truth in what you say. After reading Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, it is doubtful if the life of the average Cuban would be better off under US installed regimes which protect the interests of our MNCs and robber barons. Cuba might have a small middle class, but you can bet they would also have a deeper poverty as a few at the top were rich. We do not promote capitalism, but global corporatism. Our elites plunder other nations of their wealth, by the use of economic hit men, jackals, and last resort if military or proxies that use military means. The American empire is not the traditional empire, but an empire of robber baron corporatists, which US policy backs up, promotes. Our CIA works on behalf of these huge business interests. To some degree American interests have many times coincided with the interests of big business and the elites who own them. And this only increased post 1947 when the CIA was formed.

I am afraid the actual reality of the world we live in is not the scrubbed and white washed reality we are conditioned with by the media. And if the people in cuba were not accepting of their nation they would have revolted in great numbers by now. Truth is, our CIA could not get enough people within cuba to revolt in great enough numbers. And we have tried. So, why not leave the Cuban people alone? If they do not like how they live, they would have changed it by now. And we would have helped them.

There are quite a few corporatists who are salivating to get into cuba, to plunder its wealth, and fill up their pockets. Our economic hit men would set the groundwork for big loans, which are rigged so as to never be paid, which then gives our elites a chance to own cuba. That is how it works in the real world. Schemes, just like open borders free trade

Certainly they cannot continue to work for the DNC and recapture any trust from the public. All they are doing nowadays is talking to the inner core constituency of the Dem Party itself.

    The problem is obvious.

The press was caught with their hands in the cookie jar once too often, and this time it was so obvious that not even their own allies can honestly defend them. Up until this election, they could glibly fool others - maybe even fool themselves - into thinking that their personal biases weren't showing up in their work. Now there's just too much evidence that it was, so much so that you now have the NYT among others publicly wringing their hands and baring their souls to the hoi polloi. But no one's buying it. What to do, short-term? The only actual way they think they can salvage their own reputation is by saying they were fooled, we all were fooled, by "fake news stories". Which is an odd admission considering that what got the media INTO this problem were all the fake news stories they themselves were pushing, all the opinion pieces coyly disguised as fact. It's almost a classic case of projection.

I'm almost tempted to write a letter to the major news outlets with the answer to their question: "How do we restore trust to our *cough* noble profession?" Well, the solution is self-evident. In this order, they need to:

    1) Publicly admit that yes, they were working pretty much hand-in-hand with the DNC. Then disavow it and state in no uncertain terms that it won't happen again, that they will once again be an apolitical estate dedicated to the truth and not their own political opinions.

    2) Publicly admit that yes, their employees are largely - maybe even exclusively - Liberal/Democrat party members.

    3) Publicly admit that yes, they live in a bubble, an echo chamber where none of them working the office or editorial boards voted for Trump, or maybe didn't even know anyone who voted for Trump.

    4) (And this one is frankly impossible because they'd have to give up their own power to do so) Start hiring Conservatives/Republicans. Not just in the editorial staff, but in management - and not just as tokens, but in significant enough numbers that they match the general percentages of the population.

Look: I know such actions are impossible for the average press employee to even consider. I know that heck, you won't find any such press employees reading it here because, let's face it - PF.com really does have a wide array of political posters here. That's why I like it, because I really can see what all sides are thinking here. And that's ALSO why you won't find, say - Rachel Maddow lurking here. Or Chris Matthews, or Maureen Dowd, or well - you get the point. Maybe over at the Daily KOS, or Mother Jones, sure. But the press and their tools stay far away from anyone and anything that might challenge their schema. So the very idea that they might be wrong is just too much for them to handle. That's why they won't even get to step one on my list. Because they still don't think they did anything wrong and so there's no point in talking to people who disagree with them.

The problem here is that Liberals need a MSM source to prove another MSM source is lying and since they're all colluding on the same lies, it's all truth.

If FOX proves they're lying, Democrats will tell you, "Who Fox?"

One massive bubble echo chamber. And they're still confused why Hillary lost.

What's obvious? Hillary does not control the media, and has no power to censor any of the nonsense you gobble up like catnip.

    You're catching on.

Every schoolboy's American history book tells about Teddy Roosevelt storming San Juan Hill.

But none of them bother to mention that Teddy's mission was to capture and hold the Pennsylvania Steel Company's iron and coke mining operations outside of Santiago, which supplied iron to the Pennsylvania Steel Corporation's mills in Sparrows Point (Baltimore ) and Steelton (Harrisburg).

Fox News has no credibility at all.

It is not a news organization and never has been.

It is a public relations operation for various conservative (almost always corporate ) causes and institutions. It is blatantly partisan, revelling in it, in fact.

And it has few regards for journalistic integrity or facts.

Fact checking Fox is a full time job for many people. Fox created its own cottage industry in that respect!

Fox is at least as fair and balanced as any of the big three broadcast networks and head and shoulders above MSNCB, CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post, which outright work for the DNC.

The only thing "they" did wrong, was sell out the remaining integrity in the journalism trade for ratings points.

Had they not done that, Trump would have been finished before Labor Day 2015.

There is, and never has been, anything fair and balanced about Fox. It is avowedly right wing, but it pretends to be otherwise because it knows its audience does not get news from any other source, and hence, doesn't know any better.

Your claims about the Times and the Post working for the DNC are made up nonsense.

But we do know for a fact that Karl Rove talked to Roger Ailes at Fox about how to spin that day's news every day that George W Bush was President.

While I see where you're coming from, I have to disagree. I'd say you're half-right on this one.

The Legacy Media did indeed sell out their integrity, but it wasn't for ratings points, it was rather to supporting their own liberal beliefs, friends, and celebrities. In fact, almost the opposite happened regarding ratings points because of that shift. I mean, when you make your business model based on supporting Liberal/DNC positions, you inevitably turn away the other half of your audience that is not so inclined. The Legacy Media has literally alienated half the people out there who would watch it but for the fact that they know the same media elites despise them for the crime of not following their GroupThink.

I mean, read THIS , a collection of quotes from these very same media personalities about the biases within their own culture.

    - and there's plenty more there.

Dolly Parton, still a class act, said it best when she told an interviewer that the moment she takes one side on a political debate, she loses the other side as fans - so from a business standpoint, it's best to just shut up and sing. It's a lesson the press really should have learned a long time ago.

Your first claim is false. The corporate media gave Trump a stage and a microphone and generally put him on the screen with little real reporting or background. Some of them said as much.

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/leslie-moonves-donald-trump-may-871464

Serious critical reporting and examination of Trump in the mainstream press didn't really start until after the conventions.

Even now, few people know that he pocketed the money he raised in his veterans fundraiser in Iowa last February (until the Washinton Post caught him). that Trump Steaks he showed off in April were fake, that he was hauled into Federal court three times for housing discrimination, that he has never had a deal that didn't end in bad blood and lawsuits, that he does not pay his bills (down to walking restaurant checks and hotel bills), or that he used to call up reporters and impersonate a fake friend to pump his own image.
All of these things are true, but the right wing, which has steadily drifted into a fantasy world of confirmation bias and the sort of tabloid yellow journalism that is typified by "new media" (Brightfart, Daily Caller, American Stinker, PJ Media, etc), was never told any of it, or were told that these stories were false (they aren't) You see ridiculous lies from these "news" sources parroted on FB and on forums like this one daily.

But the fans of this sort of media seldom are offended when it turns out that they've been lied to. Rather, they will yell that mainstream media are all liars (but can't document their claim when challenged) and go right back for more from the guys who just lied to them.

That is, after all, what this thread is about . A well sourced and accurate news article in the Washington Post about fake news is being attacked all over the very right wing blogs I listed above. Never mind that the US intelligence community shares that assesment, and that has been widely reported elsewhere.

Their source? A piece of fake news written by a Russian. Nothing else.

In fact, this is what conservative media is. A circus of infotainment whose purpose is to validate the prejudices of its target audience for ratings. Facts and the need to make informed decisions do not enter into the equation. In fact, as this thread also demostrates, they are often inconvenient.

Of course, right wing noise merchants have a strategy for dealing with unwanted facts. When the Washington Post exposed Trump for pocketing the proceeds of his veterans fundraiser, Trump attacked the Post, and made the idea that the Post lied into a bobble head code word at his rallies, something reflected in the rants of right winger here.

I am wondering if you understand the difference between news and entertainment. Few far right wing conservatives do.

I wonder about this because you close with an analogy regarding Dolly Parton.

    Actually, it's a non sequiter.

Dolly Parton is an entertainer. Her job is to sing for a living and entertain her fans. She is not required, or expected to inform an audience of voters so they can make informed decisions.

That's what journalists are supposed to do.

But at Breitbart, and the rest of right wing blog world, they know that ratings trump facts, every time.

Hillary and her party colludes with the media, and vice versa.

Even proven (and not denied) by wikileaks.

Your statement is spin, intended to distort the reality.
